Visiting Annapolis is an easy getaway for many in the mid-Atlantic region. The smaller city is brimming with excitement and opportunity to enjoy the ocean as well as capture a few great pictures for your next Instagram post. Check out these highly Instagram-able spots in Annapolis on your next weekend getaway to the area. To make all your friends and acquaintances jealous about your trip, obviously.

The U.S. Naval Academy

Not only are the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy beautiful, they also offer a home to the most promising young naval students in the nation. Take a tour of the U.S. Naval Academy to see a mix of tradition and modern technology in their effort to prepare officers for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The Academy was built in 1845, making it a prime spot to capture the architecture of the time as well as a glimpse into the life of hopeful naval officers.

The Chesapeake Bay

Did you know that Annapolis is the Sailing Capital of the World? (If you’ve ever been to City Dock, then you’re surely aware of this!) This fact alone will make for some beautiful shots of the many different sailing vessels on the Chesapeake Bay. Take a look into what sailing entails or even go out onto the water to experience sailing firsthand. Keep your camera nearby as your will see other beautiful sailboats as well as many people taking full advantage of the beautiful sea.

Cantler’s Riverside Inn

You can’t visit Annapolis and not enjoy the fresh, locally sourced food. Cantler’s Riverside Inn features amazing steamed crabs that are caught fresh just steps from the restaurant. The crabs are processed on site and are by far the freshest crab that you will ever taste. Get a picture of the perfect Annapolis dinner as well as the many crabs that are being processed at Cantler’s Riverside Inn.

William Paca House & Garden

One of the most beautiful and picturesque spots in Annapolis is, by far, the William Paca House & Garden. Come in the springtime when the flowers are in bloom and let the roses, holly, flower and boxwood (each divided into four separate sections in the middle terrace) lend a pop of color to your photos, or if you’re visiting in the wintertime, allow the gray skies and bare trees to depict a historic winter wonderland. The house and garden make for such an elegant backdrop that many couples have their wedding on the property, making for some great wedding photos to look back on.

Colonial Annapolis Historic District

Take a step back in time as you tour the historic district of many of the colonial homes in Annapolis. You’ll find homes that are well over a few centuries old featuring amazing brickwork and Shiplap wood features. These old homes feature the amazing skills of tradesman who created the homes prior to the technology used today. Take angled pictures of the rows upon rows of old homes that feature a simple beauty that nods to the craftsmanship of the past.

There are so many Insta-Worthy spots awaiting you in Annapolis. From pictures of the beautiful waters to the century old homes, you will not want to miss the opportunity to capture them all.
