Annapolis Mayor Michael Panetlides invites you to join the Maryland Day celebration by visiting 20 historic landmarks, streets, and points of interest during a 4.25 mile walk in Parole on Saturday, March 19. The City of Annapolis will kick off the “Walk Parole:Scavenger Hunt for History” with a special event at 9 a.m. on Saturday, at the Community Health Center at Parole, followed by a flag raising event at City Dock at 10 a.m.
Both Mayor Pantelides and Ward Three Alderwoman Rhonda Pindell Charles will participate in the Scavenger Hunt for History at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The public is invited to pick up their walking map between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, and between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at the Community Health Center at Parole, Inc., located at 1950 Drew Street in Annapolis. Prizes will be awarded to participants.

The 2016 Walk Parole Scavenger Hunt is sponsored by Community Health Center at Parole, Inc., the City of Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department, the Annapolis Historic Preservation Division, the Annapolis Heritage Commission, Four Rivers: The Heritage Area of Annapolis, London Town and South County, Greater Parole Community Association and the Parole Elementary School Alumni and Friends Association.
In 1916, the Maryland General Assembly designated Maryland Day as a legal holiday devoted to Maryland history, and for the past nine years the Four Rivers Heritage Area has partnered with heritage associations to showcase the area’s historical, cultural and natural heritage as part of this celebration of the founding of Maryland. Special events will take place March 18-20 and be hosted by the United States Naval Academy, St. John’s College, Historic Annapolis properties, (William Paca House and Gardens, Brice House, Hogshead Living History Center, Museum Store), the Maryland State House, West Annapolis, Charles Carroll House, Hammond Harwood House, Chesapeake Children’s Museum, and the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, as well as locations in Deale, Galesville, Shady Side and Londontown.
