Looking for something to do in Annapolis this week? Here are a few events in the Annapolis area that we recommend for the week of 11/21 through 11/27:

The Annapolis Christmas Tree will be lit on November 21st. A ceremony will take place at City Dock. The Grand Illuminations celebration runs from 5 to 7 pm. City Dock will be full of hustle and bustle as everyone welcomes the holiday season to Annapolis this year.

The Lights on the Bay Illumination at Sandy Point State Park will be open from November 20th through January 2nd. Check out the glistening 2-mile drive-through spectacle of holiday lights. The show benefits the Anne Arundel Medical Center and features more than 60 holiday lights displays. Some favorite illuminations include dinosaur lights, the winter fairy tale set, and anything Maryland themed. An entrance fee of $14 is collected before you may enter. Lights on the Bay is open from 5 to 10 pm nightly.

Visiting Santa in his home at the Inner Harbor has been a tradition for local families for years. Kids of all ages are welcome to visit Santa and tell him all of their holiday wishes at the Harborplace Amphitheater. Photos will be taken and available for purchase. Santa will be at the Amphitheater Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm, and on Sundays and Christmas Eve from 11 am to 6 pm. The Harborplace Amphitheater is located in Baltimore, MD. Santa will be at the harbor starting on Saturday, November 20th.

It’s ladies night this Tuesday, November 23rd, at Brique, where they host a Girl’s Night Out for those ladies who love sipping wine during a night out on the town with their friends. During Girl’s Night Out, from 5 to 9 pm, ladies can enjoy half off of all appetizers and a complimentary bottle of red or white house wine. Brique focuses on American and French cuisine and has an extensive wine collection at their wine bar. The average entrée cost is between $10-$15. This upscale-chic dining destination offers the freshest seasonal and local ingredients available. Brique is located at 122 N. Commerce Street in historic Centerville, MD.

The ultimate Night Before Thanksgiving Party is happening at Wild Willy’s of Annapolis! Come hang out and have a spiced drinks at the bar or try some tasty items on the menu. Enter to win a free, full-packaged Thanksgiving Dinner if you come on Thanksgiving Eve. Rock out to the sounds of the Tom Petty Tribute Band. The following drinks will be on special all night: $5 Crushes and Bombs, $2 Shooters. Walk on the Wild side on November 24th from 9:30 pm to 2:30 am on Thanksgiving! Wild Willy’s is located on Somerville Road in Annapolis.

The 2nd Annual Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day morning at the Riva Trace Baptist Church. The 5k loop course traces through the grounds of the Riva Trace Baptist Church. This partially paved cross-country course is challenging and has some hills. Register before the race for $20.00 or on the morning of the race for $25. All registration fees proceed a program at the church. If you register before November 17th, you’ll get a Turkey Trot t-shirt. The Trot starts at 8 am on November 25th. The race will begin at 475 West Central Avenue in Davidson, MD.

It’s Black Friday! Go to the Westfield Annapolis Mall for your holiday shopping on November 26th! There are over 240 stores that will be offering specials and discounts on the day after Thanksgiving. We recommend checking out the flyers and advertisements to create a shopping “game-plan” before you head to the mall. Some store will be open extra early and stay open really late.

The Winter Holiday Model Train Show opens this weekend! The Model Train Show is open on Saturday, November 27th and Sunday, November 28th from 9 am to 4 pm. The 40,000 square foot exhibit features fun for the entire family on this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. You’ll see beautiful operating model trains, vendors, accessories, hobby supplies, gifts, and so many train set-ups. Door prizes will be given out throughout each day. There will be a “Thomas the Train” Play Area, Santa, and gifts for children to enjoy. A full-length feature train film will be playing on Saturday evening in the amphitheater. Listen to live old time railroad music being played in the lounge. Admission is $9 for adults, free for kids up to the age of 15, and only $12 for a family. All Saturday admissions may return to the event for free on Sunday. The Winter Holiday Model Train Show takes place at the Turf Valley Resort at 2700 Turf Valley Road in Ellicott City, MD.

The Seuss Sculpture Garden, and many other cool holiday shows, open at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center this week! The Seuss Sculpture Garden features 5 of the most beloved Dr. Seuss characters immortalized in bronze. The 4 to 6 foot statues are on display throughout the lush and beautiful indoor atrium. The exhibit, showcasing The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, Sam I Am, Yertle the Turtle, and Lorax, has been traveling the world since 1997 and is currently at the atrium. Admission is free for the Seuss Sculpture Garden. The atrium will come to life at 6 pm as the Tree Lighting Show takes place! The delightful show lights up, plays music, and includes a dramatic fountain water show. If you’re in the atrium at just the right time, around 6:15 and 9:15 pm, you’ll think you’re seeing snow… Even though it’s always 72 degrees inside the atrium, a delightful indoor flurry occurs twice each night. Go to the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center located at 201 Waterfront Street in National Harbor, MD and see their beautiful holiday showcase this week, starting Thursday, November 18th, and continuing for the rest of the holiday season. The show opens at 8:30 am and continues until 9:30 pm.
