Capital Gazette Benefit Concert this Saturday

“Annapolis Rising” headliner Good Charlotte formed in the 90s in Waldorf, Md, and several of its members spent years living in Annapolis.

It’s called “Annapolis Rising,” and proceeds will benefit the Capital Gazette and the first responders who raced to the scene after a gunman opened fire and killed five employees of the Annapolis newspaper. 

The concert will take place exactly a month after the tragedy, Saturday, July 28 beginning at noon. Backpacks will be prohibited, small purses subject to search, no outside food or drink permitted inside the event perimeter, food trucks and drinks will be available inside.

Clicquot on the Creek – July 28, 2 – 5 p.m.

The historic district of Annapolis can be considered a museum without walls. Wander through this ancient city and admire the treasure trove of architecture and preservation. Learn about the city’s most notable and celebrated examples of 17th and 18th Century architecture with ArchiTrex. Developed and led by local architects and artists.

Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Celebration: African American Experience Tour – July 29, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Colonial Tours of Annapolis is offering its new “African American Experience in Annapolis” walking tour every Sunday. Discover what life was like for all classes of African Americans in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and Maryland from the colony’s founding in 1632 until the present day. The tour also shares Annapolis links to Frederick Douglass.
