It’s going to be another hot one, Annapolis. Secrets, Spirits and Spies: Espionage in the Garden – Aug. 14, 5 – 7 p.m.

Historic Annapolis Happy Hour once again welcomes guests into the beautiful William Paca Garden after hours for delicious drinks, snacks, and fun. 

Someone is keeping secrets in Annapolis!  Enter the world of colonial espionage at this month’s HA Happy Hour.  Explore the various methods colonial spies used to pass sensitive information. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: decipher the codes and expose the Master Spy…while enjoying a few drinks. Secrets and spirits, what could go wrong?

28th Annual Annapolis Art Walk – Aug. 16, 5 – 9 p.m.

The Annapolis Gallery Association is pleased to announce its 28th Annual Annapolis Art Walk to be held Thursday evening August 16 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  The public is invited to join us in a festive evening enjoying the visual arts.  Twenty galleries in downtown historic Annapolis are participating in this annual event, hosting new art exhibits and featuring artists demonstrating their skills in various media. There will be musicians around town and the galleries will be serving light refreshments.  Yellow balloons and a yellow banner are posted at all participating galleries. Maps will be available at each art gallery.

Here is your chance to peek over an artist’s shoulder and watch them at work!  Artists working in oil, watercolor, ceramics, woodturning, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafts and more, will be demonstrating their skills at the Annapolis Art Walk. It promises to be an enjoyable summer evening for art lovers.

Reggae on the Bay 2018 – Aug. 17, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Join us aboard the Harbor Queen for a three hour booze cruise around the Chesapeake Bay with live music from Bumpin Uglies and Higher Education. This event is ALL-AGES and has very limited space so make sure you pick up a ticket before it sells out!

The boat starts boarding at 6:30pm and we leave port at 7pm sharp! Boat returns to port around 10pm. DO NOT BE LATE because the boat WILL leave without you and you WILL NOT recieve a refund. Traffic can be pretty bad this time of year so plan accordingly.

Arts in the Park Festival 2018 – Aug. 18, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Chesapeake Arts Center presents the 5th Annual Arts in the Park Festival on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 11AM to 3PM, outside of the Hammonds Lane Theater, located at 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, Maryland 21225.  The FREE outdoor event will take place, rain or shine! Bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the live entertainment by Brent Schraffenberger, Annapolis Big Band Junction, and RÊVE. Besides live music there will be Corn Hole, Moon Bounce, Food Trucks, community resource partners and local artists displaying and selling their art!

Hammond-Harwood House Garden Party – Aug. 18, 5:30 – 8 p.m.

This summer’s Garden Party to benefit the Hammond-Harwood House will be held at Thanksgiving Farm Vineyards & Winery in beautiful South County. Set amid rolling hills and surrounded by centuries-old farms, the winery features a charming 1893 farmhouse and acres of vineyards. The property is on the National Register of Historic Places. Bordeaux-style estate wines are produced on site.

Dinner Under the Stars – Aug. 15, 6 – 10 p.m.

This summer, the Inner West Street Association is hosting a romantic evening event for families and friends under the stars. Spend a Wednesday night dining, dancing and listening to live bands in the middle of the street from 6pm to 10pm on the first block of West Street off Church Circle.  Participating restaurants will give you a wide choice of international and hometown flavors.

ArchiTrex Architecture Tour – Aug. 18, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The historic district of Annapolis can be considered a museum without walls. Wander through this ancient city and admire the treasure trove of architecture and preservation. Learn about the city’s most notable and celebrated examples of 17th and 18th Century architecture with ArchiTrex. Developed and led by local architects and artists.

Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Celebration- African American Experience Tour — Aug. 19, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Colonial Tours of Annapolis is offering its new “African American Experience in Annapolis” walking tour every Sunday. Discover what life was like for all classes of African Americans in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and Maryland from the colony’s founding in 1632 until the present day. The tour also shares Annapolis links to Frederick Douglass.

Exterior stops along the two-hour tour include: Banneker-Douglass Museum, Maynard Burgess House, William Butler House, Historic Annapolis Museum, Kunta Kinte Memorial and story wall, sites along Fleet and East Streets, Chase-Lloyd House, Hammond-Harwood House and the Thurgood Marshall Memorial.

Sunday Outdoor Free Movies in the Garden – Aug. 19, 8:30 – 10:30 p.m.

First of all, who doesn’t love a Free Movie Screening? Add the fact that it is outside under the beautiful Annapolis sky, and you automatically have a family friendly, romantic, relaxed Sunday evening!

Every Sunday Night our Beer Garden becomes your Neighborhood Outdoor Movie Theatre with Free Classic Movie Screenings. All screenings are free and open to the public. Because all of our screenings begin at dusk, the start time may vary throughout the season.

Each Sunday we also feature a great Happy Hour from 3-7pm; come early and enjoy special features, and as the sun fades and movie starts, food and beverage service continues throughout the screening.
