Solomons Maryland is a small and cozy little fishing village located on the Chesapeake Bay and the Patuxent River. With lots to do and see, you’ll have a great time in Solomons. If you’ve never been and are unsure of what there is to do in this cute town, here are a few of our suggestions:
Stroll the Riverwalk
Most businesses in Solomons are open all year round. For this fact, this waterfront    community is the perfect place to explore whenever you find some free time. While strolling down the Riverwalk, you’ll be able to absorb the history and appeal of this quaint town.
Rent a sail boat, jet ski, kayak, or any other type of boat and enjoy a day on the water
Because Solomons is a small island town located on both the Patuxent River and    the Chesapeake Bay you can’t get away from the water! Why not enjoy it? You can also charter a boat from any of the local marinas and go on a fishing trip.
Go fossil hunting
The Calvert Cliffs State park is located near Solomons and boasts some great fossils! Bet you wouldn’t have guessed that this location was filled with fossils? The Calvert Marine Museum offers a fossil tour and lots of information about the prehistoric finds in the area.
Get something to eat and tour the town
There are plenty of fine dining establishments in the town of Solomons. Each restaurant offers their own unique dishes and particular atmospheres. The town has several unique antique stores where you can find one-of-a-kind items. Gift shops offer fun mementos from your trip to the island. Stop by one of the few bed and breakfasts and check out the historic designs and decorations that date back to the origin of Solomons.
Visit a lighthouse
Solomons Island is home to one of the last existing and unique “screw pile†lighthouses. This lighthouse used to direct boats into the Patuxent from the bay. The lighthouse is located on the Calvert Marine Museum grounds and is open daily year-round. Another lighthouse, the Cove Point Lighthouse, is located only a few miles away and tours are offered through this shining house also.
