Under Governor’s New Executive Order,City Issues Guidelines for Residents
ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 30, 2020) – Today, Gov. Larry Hogan issued an Executive Order prohibiting large gatherings and events and further closing all non-essential businesses and requiring all persons to stay-at-home in order to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The City urges full compliance with the Governor’s Order. All residents and visitors should stay at home except for employees of essential businesses or those engaged in essential activities. The stay-at-home order goes into effect at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2020.

Non-essential businesses can only remain open in minimal operation. Products must be delivered to customers and no curbside pick up is allowed.
Examples of essential activities include: obtaining necessary supplies for your household, obtaining necessary medical or mental health care, caring for or transporting someone who needs help completing an essential activity, receiving meals or educational information from an educational institution.
“We need all residents and businesses in the City to comply with these orders,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley. “The sooner we can beat this virus, the sooner we can get everyone back to work.”
Besides requiring people to stay at home, this order implements new restrictions on outdoor activities. While outdoor exercise activities, like walking, hiking, biking, and running are still permitted, participants are now required to maintain social distancing guidelines while engaging in them. Gatherings remain limited to no more than 10 people.

The City of Annapolis has ordered all non-essential staff to telework or take administrative leave effective March 31.
