We hope that you had a safe and happy holiday and that your new year is off to a great start! The first week of a new year always seems busy and eventful. If you’re in Annapolis this week, here are a few fun things going on in our city:
It’s ladies night this Tuesday, January 4th, at Brique, where they host a Girl’s Night Out for those ladies who love sipping wine during a night out on the town with their friends. During Girl’s Night Out, from 5 to 9 pm, ladies can enjoy half off of all appetizers and a complimentary bottle of red or white house wine. Brique focuses on American and French cuisine and has an extensive wine collection at their wine bar. The average entrée cost is between $10-$15. This upscale-chic dining destination offers the freshest seasonal and local ingredients available. Brique is located at 122 N. Commerce Street in historic Centerville, MD.
The Seuss Sculpture Garden, and many other cool shows, open at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center this week! The Seuss Sculpture Garden features 5 of the most beloved Dr. Seuss characters immortalized in bronze. The 4 to 6 foot statues are on display throughout the lush and beautiful indoor atrium. The exhibit, showcasing The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, Sam I Am, Yertle the Turtle, and Lorax, has been traveling the world since 1997 and is currently at the atrium. Admission is free for the Seuss Sculpture Garden. Go to the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center located at 201 Waterfront Street in National Harbor, MD and see their beautiful holiday showcase this week. The show opens at 8:30 am and continues until 9:30 pm.
Feel like singing? It’s Rockstar Karaoke at Wild Willy’s Rock House & Sports Saloon! Join the Wild Willy’s staff for Rockstar Karaoke and you can be the vocalist for a live band. Just pick any song and the band will play it. Karaoke takes place Thursday, January 6th starting 9:30 pm. You can compete against other karaoke sings to win fantastic prizes or cash.
The Winter Artisan Boutique is open and there are artists anxious to show you their work. More than 20 local artists will have exhibits set up for the show. You’ll see oil paintings, watercolor work, woodwork, jewelry, pottery, fabric art, Christmas decorations, and more. Some featured artists include Myra Copus, Colleen Sabo, Sally Babylon, Gail Higginbotham, David Diaz, and many others. The Winter Artisan Boutique is being held at the West Annapolis Art Works & Fine Framing shop located at 4 Annapolis Street. Hours are: Wednesday, January 5th (10 am – 6 pm), Thursday, January 6th (10 am – 5 pm), Friday, January 7th (10 am – 5 pm), and Saturday, January 8th (10 am – 5 pm).
Happy birthday, Elvis! Celebrate the “King of Rock’n’Rollâ€. Join Elvis tribute artists Chris Presley, Will Debley, and Jed Buvall as they perform some of the greatest rock hits of all time. The party will take place on Sunday, January 9th at Whispers Restaurant on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie, MD. Doors open at 3 pm, a buffet begins at 4 pm, and the show starts 5 pm.
