The Maryland Transit Authority will be patching up some potholes on the eastbound span of the Bay Bridge that will result in the closure of the eastbound lanes late Friday into early Saturday from 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. and from 9 p.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.

This is part of an ongoing project that should wrap up work by the end of next week, depending on the weather. Work began earlier this week, but those repairs were primarily limited to lanes near the toll plaza and resulted only in lane closures there. This portion of the project requires more extensive repairs and so the entire eastbound span of the Bay Bridge will need to be closed for work to progress smoothly.

That, in part, was the reasoning for the overnight hours – to reduce the potential impact to commuters or day trippers. The MDTA is not ruling out additional lane closures in the near future to complete additional repairs before winter comes.

Right now, the work is limited to the one-third mile stretch between the toll plaza and the bridge itself.
