Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts will host their seventh annual “All That Art” fundraiser/auction March 2. This event will display the work of about 35 artists, half of which will be auctioned. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served to enhance viewing pleasure. Admission is $75, but remember, you are paying to support culture now and for future generations. Maryland Hall not only offers you fantastic performances, but they also give you the chance to learn the production of art. The establishment offers a wide variety of classes; they have anything from book binding to ethnic dancing. This week, all artsy hopefuls can sign up for “Acrylic Painting II” with instructor Andrea Onley-Wall. The class begins on February 28 and ends April 3. Still deciding what to do on weeknights? Head to Ram’s Head for some rocking and beautiful music. This week, Hot Tuna does acoustic versions to their rock songs on Monday. This group that’s comparable to Grateful Dead begins at 8 p.m. and costs $49.50 to see. Buy tickets for this show and all the following shows at tickets.ramsheadonstage.com. Tuesday and Wednesday, Cowboy Junkies takes the stage with Anais Mitchell at 8 p.m. The cost to see these art/folk players is $56.50. Thursday, Jay & The Americans play early pop music at 8 p.m. They charge $45. Ted Vigil is on stage Friday doing a special tribute to John Denver. He plays at 8 p.m. and charges $23.50. The Return plays at 8:30 p.m. on March 3. Not only do they physically resemble The Beatles, but they have similar sound (see below)! It costs $29.50 to see them. Chuck Loeb is on stage on Sunday at 8 p.m. Loeb is a talented guitarist and will amaze you with his chords. The ticket admission is $29.50.
Want some coffee with your music? 49 West has a great bunch of musicians for your listening and drinking pleasure. Monday, Justin Trawick sings a mix of bluegrass, folk, funk, and hip-hop at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $6. Tuesday, Unified Jazz Ensemble is back doing acoustic jazz at 8:30 p.m. The cover charge is $6 again. Susan Jones Trio revisits 49 West with their rock/country music on Wednesday. They play at 8 p.m. and cost $6 to see. Rob Levit Group plays guitar music at 8:30. This group costs $6 to see. Friday, Tom Mitchell offers a free concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Larry Brown Quintet plays jazz music at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $15. Sunday, Gary & Leah take the stage at 4 p.m. The duo plays a mix of roots and Americana. There’s no cover charge.
This next event is a bit more classical than the performances at Ram’s Head and 49 West. Live Arts Maryland presents Mass B in Minor, a casual yet elegant concert. It is held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, and is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 8 p.m. There is time for questions at at both performances. Want to learn about Annapolis history in a fun way? Try this out: tour the William Paca House with a colonial guide! The house is pictured above. The setting is the home of Mary and William Paca. Imagine life without iPods, computers, and Wi-Fi at this interesting event. The tours are scheduled for 12:3–3:30 on March 4. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children.
