This week, the Queen of Hearts, Alice, and the White Rabbit visit you, Annapolis! Children’s Theatre of Annapolis brings the magic of this Disney classic to the stage on April 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22. The musical is based on the 1951 Disney version and Lewis Carroll’s original in print. “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Jr.” is sure to please children and adults alike. Another play, The Colonial Players’ The Spitfire Grill, is still on stage this week. The performance centers on the comeback of a motivated woman with a less than desirable past. Ballet Theatre of Maryland presents a celebration of Grace Clark’s 100th Birthday. Don’t know the wonderful Grace Clark? She’s the lady who brought dance to this bustling city. Join directors and other performance folk as they reminisce about Clark with stories and reflections. On Sunday, there’s a birthday party for Clark after the show. Tickets are $45 for adults, $36 for seniors, $25 for students, and $19 for children 10 and below. Commemorate this liberal art-minded lady on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m., or Sunday at 2 p.m. The birthday celebration on Sunday consists of toasting Clark, announcing BTM’s new season, and socializing with others. Ram’s Head features a wide variety of musical genres this week. First, Alice Smith, an eccentric singer with a four octave range, lulls the crowd with a mix of indie and R&B. Smith plays on Tuesday at 8 p.m. and costs $23.50 to see. On Wednesday, Amy Ray offers alternative rock much like the group she co-founded, Indigo Girls. Ray plays with Kaia Wilson at 8 p.m. and charges $20. Sugar Blue, harmonica-playing-electric-blues-extraordinaire, brings you lively entertainment at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Pay $15 to see Blue. Friday, see a tribute to Rod Stewart at 8 p.m. See this group, Bandhouse Gigs, for $25. Saturday night at Ram’s Head is certainly adults-only. 49 West Coffeehouse presents Annapolis with jazz and acoustic music this week. On Tuesday, Unified Jazz Ensemble is back with acoustic jazz that inspires crowd interaction. See this energetic group at 8:30 p.m. for only $6. Next, on Wednesday, 49 West-goers will find Pam & Paula, an instrumental duo. These ladies begin to play at 5 p.m. There is no cover charge. Also on Wednesday, Frank & Amy play with percussion, a saxophone, keyboard, and more! The cover charge is $6 and the group begins playing at 8 p.m. Thursday, Rob Levit Group entertains from 8:30 to midnight. Levit, a talented composer and educator, wows the audience with acoustic jazz. See Levit for $6. Friday, Susan Jones Trio hits the stage with violins, drums, and guitars. With an eclectic musical background, Jones and her bandmates will keep you entertained until they leave at 11 p.m. The trio begins at 8 p.m. and costs $6 to see. Saturday night, the mood becomes intimate at 49 West. Stef Scaggiari on piano and Sue Matthews on the microphone create an intimate jazz setting with their sweet sounds. Sunday, Annapolis residents and visitors have an abundance of musical acts from which to choose. One of these is Jenn, Larry & Pete, a sing-along kind of group. There’s no cover charge. This trio begins at 4 p.m. At dinnertime, British musicians known as Veronneau are on stage at 7 p.m. Though from the United Kingdom, this group does not play favorites and only play English tunes; Veronneau presents international music. The cover charge is $20. During the breakfast hour, Jonathan Stone, a jazzy Brazilian import, gives jazz music to listeners. Annapolis History

The William Paca House hosts a painting event this Saturday, April 14. Participants can bask in the spring weather and paint the lovely gardens at the Paca House. A skilled landscape and garden painter will be there to guide shaky hands. The workshop/painting event occurs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $75. Register online at www.annapolis.org.

Annapolis Family Fun

Chesapeake Children’s Museum holds “Daisy Day” on Saturday and Sunday, where Girl Scouts can earn petals and work with others. The event costs $7 for the girls and $3 for parents and younger siblings. The fun takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Here’s another event through the CCM: Earth Day Celebration at Quiet Waters Park on April 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are hands-on activities and plenty of green trees and colorful plants to enjoy.
