And off we go again with another week in riveting entertainment! To kick things off, Ram’s Head treats Annapolis to part indie, part Americana music on Wednesday–Delta Rae. Daniel Champagne joins the group, which starts playing at 8 p.m. The concert costs $15. On Thursday, Tizer, a jazz group, performs at 8 pm. for $23.50. David Bromberg and Adam McBride-Smith bring folk/rock to the stage on Friday at 8 p.m. This show costs $46.50. The Young Dubliners fuse rock and Celtic sounds at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday for $22.50. Sunday, Ram’s Head welcomes Acoustic Strawbs and John Wesley Harding to the stage at 7:30 p.m. for folky pop. Tickets cost $35. Jamming with jazz music never stops at 49 West Coffeehouse. Unified Jazz Ensemble starts the entertainment with acoustic jazz at 8:30 p.m. The cover charge is $6. Wednesday, Starr’s Jazz Jam returns at 7 p.m. with various jazz musicians. This performance costs $10. Thursday, a local favorite, Rob Levit, performs at 8:30 p.m. for $6. Friday, Tom Mitchell & Friends serenade the audience with guitars and other stringed instruments. See them at 8 p.m. for $10. Saturday is the ideal date night thanks to intimate jazz by Stef Scaggarri and Tony Spencer at 8 p.m. This cover is $20. This Saturday, Bonefish Grill officially opens and to celebrate, hosts a “Charity Night” that benefits Historic Annapolis Foundation. Live music will be set up, cocktails will be floating around, and seafood will be available for tasting. The tickets for this opening night/”Charity Night” are $35 per person, which includes food and two drinks. Eat, drink, and benefit all at once. Bonefish is located at Annapolis Towne Centre. Sandy Point Park combines seafood, a crab soup cook-off, music, exhibits, and vendors for the 45th Annual Maryland Seafood Festival. This week on the Woodwind adventure, it’s all about Annapolis photography. These sailing educational tours on the water happen on Mondays, and depart from Annapolis Marriott at 5:30 p.m. Kids, adults, and seniors are all invited! Chesapeake Children’s Museum brings back the ways a carnival used to be–hayrides, crafts, contest, etc.–this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This carnival is geared toward families, especially grandparents and kids. Annapolis Green
We all know it’s good to go green, but how often do we get the chance to actively participate in making the world a better place? This Saturday, September 8, South River Federation presents the greater Annapolis area with the chance to plant a meadow. This volunteer opportunity invites all ages to help convert a front lawn into a meadow, complete with trees, shrubs, and flowers. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Jonas Green Park presents another volunteer opportunity this Saturday with clean-up of the park. Join plenty others who wish to keep this valuable park beautiful at 8:30 a.m. Be prepared to plant, weed, and pick up trash.
If you like green events mixed with a little water, head to the canoe excursion at Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater this Saturday. Participants will canoe on a creek and river in search of wildlife. The excursion is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Canoeing costs $14 for adults and $7 for kids.
This Saturday, from 9 to 10 a.m., the Chesapeake Ecology Center opens up its doors for tours of the facility. Tour participants will learn about the area’s native plants, rain gardens, and other ways to conserve. This tour is free.
