Love, a witch, and trickery all combine in Belle, Book, and Candle by The Colonial Players. The love aspect runs throughout; the witch is the main character; the trickery comes in with the witch’s predicament in her heart to abdicate her powers or fall in love. Music always entertains, as those who frequent Ram’s Head already know. This week, the music ranges from hip hop to stand-up comedy. On Monday, see the bold and beautiful ZZ Ward. Her rock/blues/hip hop is sure to please. Another appealing factor? The price of the show is only $12.50. Ward performs at 8 p.m. On Tuesday, Margaret Cho brings her very adult humor to Ram’s Head with stand-up comedy at 6 and 9 p.m. Cho performs for $30 with special guest Selene Luna at both performances. She offers a fresh way to look at motherhood. BoDeans performs with Levi Lowrey on Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. This roots rock show is sure to get you rockin’ with new and old friends. The cost of each performance is $35. Looking for some smooth, casual jazz music on a Friday night? Ram’s Head hosts Joe Sample Trio at 8 p.m. this Friday. Sample’s show costs $49.50. Saturday, the vibe returns to Americana/country with upbeat music by Darrell Scott and Cris Jacobs. This group performs at 8 p.m. for $20. Also on Saturday, there’s a chance to get ready for Halloween a whole month early. The Living Corpse, a film adapted from a novel, will be shown at Ram’s Head at noon and thirty minutes after. The film costs $10 and is suggested for all over the age of 13. On Sunday, it’s back to music with two great acts: Joe Robinson and Shemekia Copeland. Copeland performs first, at 1 p.m., with a bluesy twang. This show is perfect for all ages. The ticket price is $25. Robinson picks up where Copeland left of at 7:30 p.m. with pop/guitar music. 49 West Coffeehouse is at it again with tons of enthusiastic live music in a casual, cool setting. This Monday, nine talented singer/songwriters share the spotlight at the coffeehouse for “The 9 Songwriter Series” at 7:30 p.m. The show costs $10. Tuesday, 49 West patrons Unified Jazz Ensemble return at 8:30 p.m. and play until the clock strikes midnight. See this energetic group for $6. On Wednesday, Big Foot comes to the stage with smooth jazz at 8 p.m. This show costs $6. On Thursday, it’s Cafe Scientific again, this time, with David H. Gracias. Gracias will lecture on the structures found in nature and their man-made replications. There is no cover charge. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Izzi Does It brings eclectic jams to the stage at 8 p.m. This group performs for $8. Saturday, The Hendrik Meurkens bring roots/Americana/Brazilian music to the stage at 8 p.m. The cover charge for this show is $20. Sunday, Pillowbrook returns for the last Sunday in September. Want more music? Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts is glad to supply you with more! This week, Maryland Hall offers a classic: Michael Roll’s renditions of Beethoven. Roll teams up with Maryland Hall and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra to bring the greater Annapolis area the thundering beats and powerful melodies of the great Beethoven. As always, there are green events to attend in Annapolis. Namely, educational opportunities this week. On Saturday, guests of the “Earth Friendly Workshops” at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary will learn about sustainability they can practice at home. There are hands-on demonstrations, lectures, and information about improvements to the house that would make for a greener world. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs $25 per person.
