This post is grounded in practicality: who wants to be lost? Below, you will find information about exploring outside and inside Annapolis. Take it and road trip!
Driving Outside Annapolis
Annapolis is fairly centrally located, meaning it is close to numerous attractions and big cities. Baltimore is right around the corner; D.C. and all the activities there are thirty minutes away; and of course, the Chesapeake Bay is an integral part of the city, and surrounds part of Annapolis. For those who are itching to explore when the weather warms up, take what is below into consideration.
Annapolis is arguably one of the best places to be, but exploration to other cities, towns, and attractions is always warranted. It is for this reason we will provide directions from Annapolis to other locations, not the other way around as is often exhibited.
Annapolis to Baltimore: Destination time is 30 minutes.
1. From downtown, get onto Rowe Boulevard
2. Get onto US-301 (a.k.a. S/US 50 W) toward Baltimore

From here, there are various routes to take, and depending on your true destination, you will have to alter what directions your take from here. Towson is further up, and Catonsville and Ellicott City are to the left. If you want to go to the Inner Harbor, skip step 6 and instead, follow signs for exit 11A and then exit 53 for Interstate 395 N toward Inner Harbor. These directions put you on the outskirts of downtown Baltimore.

Driving/Riding in Annapolis
Of course, there is the possibility that you never desire to leave the city of Annapolis. For you, there are multiple options concerning transportation that will save you money and headaches. The city offers bus transit services via the Circulator (a free trolley). Another transportation option is e-Cruiser, a non-city run service that takes shoppers and diners throughout downtown. In addition to these options, there are multiple parking garages downtown that make the experience easy. The garages cost different amounts. The city also encourages biking, walking, and carpooling to alleviate smug and congested parking situations. The city’s website has a marvelous transportation webpage; see it here.
