Celebrate the coming of spring with entertainment in Annapolis–everything from live music at favorite venues to crafty events for children are represented below.

Annapolis Entertainment

Music and local talent combine this week for a United States Naval Academy Band event: Wind Ensemble. The performance, which includes the beautiful sounds of wind instruments, takes place at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts. A historical performance, 1776, also takes place this week. The show is put on by the talented company, The Colonial Players. By the name of the performance, you can imagine what the focus is: the founding fathers, revolutions, important documents, and of course, drama that pervades all these re-enactments. Ram’s Head brings jazz sensation, Suede, to their venue this week. She’s a talented singer and trumpet player, deeming the show exciting and worthwhile. Suede performs on Saturday, March 30 at 8 p.m. The show costs $28.50. To obtain tickets, head to http://tickets.ramsheadonstage.com.

49 West Coffeehouse hosts numerous jazz musicians and other local talent this week. Monday, join nine singer/songwriters for a night of eclectic, innovative sounds at 7 p.m. This show costs $10. Tuesday, Unified Jazz Ensemble hits the stage at 8:30 p.m. for a jazzy show that costs $6. Wednesday, Anthony Setola & Friends entertains with more eclectic sounds at 8 p.m. The cover charge for this is $15. Cafe Scientific brings economist Eric Luebehusen to 49 West for a free educational experience on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition entertains from 8 to 11 p.m. for $10. Saturday, March Schatz and Eileen Carson perform bluegrass, swing, and more at both 8 and 10 p.m. The shows cost $12 each. Annapolis Families

Chesapeake Children’s Museum features several entertaining opportunities this week. Namely, “Lighthouses of the Chesapeake” on Monday, March 25. This event awards kids with the chance to learn about local lighthouses–history and current use–and then, to make their own lighthouses out of cereal boxes and other craft materials. This event is ideal for children ages five and older. The lighthouse fun begins at 1:30 and ends two hours later. The cost is $5 per child.
