Art in Annapolis is an integral part of the easygoing, celebratory sentiment here. Just think of the artsy entertainment served up in the city: First Sunday Arts, numerous events at Maryland Hall, music at Ram’s Head and local taverns and bars, and the various art galleries that capture both Annapolis history and places far away. Similarly, art is integral to West Street, and on Friday, June 21, the historic street lined with galleries and other art-like venues celebrates art in an all-out event. Join artists, musicians, West Street business owners, and other artsy folk for Gallery Row. See what’s happening that night below.

A few activities are planned for the night, namely the art on display at the West Street galleries. The entire first block of West Street participates in this nighttime celebration, including the galleries there: Annapolis Collection, 49 West Wine Bar and Gallery, and Whitehall Gallery. At Annapolis Collection Gallery, photographer/musician/artist Bill Payne greets guests from 9 to 11 p.m. Payne will speak about his photography exhibit, entitled “Tracing Footsteps.” This gallery, located at 55 West Street, will also showcase other works that night. At 49 West, sits the appropriately named 49 West Wine Bar and Gallery. Throughout the night, artist Milton Frank’s paintings will be on display and, to aid in establishing an art-worthy atmosphere, musical group Cadillac Mule will perform at 8 p.m. Cadillac Mule plays a tribute to George Jones. There is a cover to hear Cadillac Mule; contact 49 West at 410-636-9796 to learn more. Whitehall Gallery, located at 57 West Street, welcomes special guest Janet Cooper, to perform cabaret tunes from 9 to 11 p.m.

Though Tsunami is not an art gallery, it’s dubbed one for the night of Gallery Row. The much buzzed about restaurant will showcase the works of Jeff Huntington from 8 to 10 p.m. See the paintings in Huntington’s collection entitled “Bliss Point” at Tsunami, located at 51 West Street.

As for the other forms of entertainment go, Gallery Row hosts plenty of live music from various genres. You know about the cabaret tunes at Whitehall and the rock music at 49 West, but Ram’s Head and Infinity Theatre get in on the fun too. Ram’s Head puts the musical side of Bill Payne front and center with tunes from his group called Little Feat. This performance requires tickets and starts before Payne discusses his art at 9 p.m. at Annapolis Collection. Head to www.ramsheadonstage.com to purchase your tickets. Although not located on West Street, Infinity Theatre will set up a vintage cadillac and the actress who portrays Patsy Cline in their hit Always, Patsy Cline next to the red carpet. The singer/actress will belt out tunes from the musical as both entertainment and encouragement to go see the performance.

Stan and Joe’s Saloon, located at 37 West Street, will also participate in the Gallery Row activities. This well-known hang-out spot for good food and even better entertainment, has concocted a special drink for Gallery Row attendees. The drink is a secret–stop in and claim yours on the night of Gallery Row.

Finally, Back Creek Books and Antiques at 45 West Street, joins the festivities. The fun-loving owner will bring out some of his rare and out-of-print book to show to guests.

As we progress toward the 21st, http://www.GalleryRowAnnapolis.com will update its site with more explicit details on the night’s events. Check the site and clear your calendar for Friday night, 8 to 11 p.m. One last thing: Gallery Row is free and open to all! Bring a friend and partake in the celebration of all forms of Annapolis art.
