We don’t know for sure, but we heard that Black Friday was created to help burn all those calories from Thanksgiving. Out of the elements that comprise Black Friday (the high-paced rush, thrifting on little sleep, camping out Thanksgiving night, etc.), the most attractive is clearly the deals and discounts only available at this time of year. Retailers may not be excited about the influx of antsy holiday shoppers, but those who participate in Black Friday certainly look forward to the marked-down prices. It is for this reason we’ve cataloged some of the places to visit this Black Friday–all throughout Annapolis.

The Annapolis Westfield Mall

Usually populated with people, the mall will see an even higher number of visitors for Black Friday, which is why you need a plan. According to the “Grey Thursday, Black Friday” event on Westfield Mall’s FaceBook page, the mall features several times and days when shopping can be done.

Thursday, at 8 p.m.: Some retailers chose to extend the “Grey Thursday” to earlier hours to optimize shopping time. Those who participate in this early-bird event include: Macy’s, JC Penney, Abercrombie & Fitch, Aerie, Aeropostle, Yankee Candle, Best Buy Mobile, Express, Finish Line, Starbucks, Sunglass Hut, and some others. The mall will officially open at 7 p.m. to allow guests inside.

Thursday, at midnight: The “Grey Thursday” part comes into play with the select few retailers open at midnight on Thanksgiving. Stores that open at midnight include: Adidas, Aldo, Call it Spring, Eddie Bauer, Champs, Gap, Laila Rowe, Pandora, Under Armour, Vans, and Victoria’s Secret.

Friday, at 5 a.m.: The entire mall will be open all this time, including all stores.

On Friday, the mall is open until 10 p.m. as usual. Consider downloading the Westfield App 2.0 (available on Westfield’s site) to ease your shopping experience. Head to Westfield Mall’s FaceBook page to learn more about the participating retailers.

The Annapolis Towne Centre

Select stores at Annapolis Towne Centre are open for Black Friday. These stores do not have the same regimented schedule (or so ATC’s site makes it seem) as Westfield Mall. Instead of classifying by day, we’ll provide the stores offering deals below.

– J. Jill, from November 25 to December2: J. Jill offers 25% off entire purchase.

– Coldwater Creek, only on Black Friday: Enjoy 50% discounts until 2 p.m. and 40% off your purchases after that point.

– A La Mode Intimates, from Friday to Saturday: The lingerie store provides great discounts Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

– South Moon Under, from Black Friday to December 2: Everything in the store is 25% discounted.

– Talbots, only on Black Friday: Guests can receive 50% off one item through noon. After noon, guests can enjoy 40% off everything in the store.

Other anchor stores, like Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond will open early to welcome Black Friday shoppers. At Bed, Bath & Beyond, guests can receive 20% off the entire order from 6 a.m. to noon. Head to the B,B & B website to obtain the coupon. Target features deals for pre-Black Friday sales through Cyber Monday at the ATC location. Target starts the deals on Thanksgiving night at 8 p.m. and ends the Black Friday deals on at 11 p.m. on Friday. Go to Target’s site to learn more.

Downtown Annapolis

Downtown takes an interesting approach to Black Friday as it offers both deals and discounted adoption of cats and dogs. Quite appropriately, black cats are free and black dogs are half-off. SPCA of Anne Arundel County teams will be at Duke of Gloucester Street with discounted pet items and furry friends too. Stores throughout downtown may feature deals on Friday, though Downtown Annapolis does not broadcast these.

Eastport

Eastport furthers their community vibe this Black Friday with “Fourth Street Art Stroll & Pub Walk” from 6 to 9 p.m. The Eastport Gallery, Lisa Masson Studio Gallery, Fletcher Art, and more shops provide great deals to accompany the delicious food and drinks offered at the event. This event truly takes the rush and chaos out of Black Friday and restores it to a safe, fun event to be shared amongst friends and family.
