We’re coming off a week of Cinco de Mayo in West Annapolis, family-friendly fun, and lots of great outdoor events. This week, the entertainment continues, but as to keep you interested, is comprised of a few new activities. Keep reading and plan your fun week accordingly.

Annapolis Entertainment

Compass Rose Theatre welcomes a new performance that runs from May 9 to the 31st. Another Day on Willow Street catalogs the struggles of two couples–one homosexual and the other heterosexual–right before 9/11 occurred. The change to the world also brought change to their lives. The Colonial Players also open a show this week, entitled These Shining Lives. This performance showcases the progression of women at work and fighting for their wellbeing. These Shining Lives is based on a true story of four young women who go to work for a watch company painting with radium powder, which they later find out has caused them serious health problems. Watch as the four women make decisions to better their lives, change their futures, and set things right. The show begins on May 9. Tickets around around $20. Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts presents a unique show this week–an a cappella showcase. Happening on May 10, this show celebrates the power and beauty of the human voice. Enjoy various songs and genres of music through this instrument-less performance. Tickets are available on www.marylandhall.org. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Schooner Woodwind and Watermark continue their cruises this week. Watermark offers short cruises every day while Schooner offers specialty ones right now. Annapolis Art

This week, Annapolis Collection Gallery presents a rare opportunity that fuses art and rock. Friday and Saturday, British rocker Bill Ward visits Annapolis not to rock, but to showcase his inspiring art. Friday sees two free events open to the public and the same is true for Saturday. Annapolis History

How would Annapolis still be Annapolis if we didn’t celebrate its great history? That’s the thought of the folks at the William Paca House, who welcome a new, spring time appropriate event this week. On May 10, attend the Paca garden plant sale, happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Purchase from the hundreds of perennials, annuals, woody plants, vines, and heirlooms raised by garden volunteers. The volunteers will also help customers choose the plant(s) ideal for home growing conditions. Admission is free. Annapolis Green

BGE and the city of Annapolis team up to offer one free tree per household to city residents. Pick up at is Truxton Park from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

On Sunday, join St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Eastport for a concert to raise funds to restore a tidal stream in the Back Creek area. This concert is free, but donations will help the church with their goal to reduce pollution going into Back Creek.
