Fringe Festival holding Kickstarter campaign to raise money for 2014 event

Annapolis, Md- After a landmark year in 2013, the Fringe Festival is returning to Annapolis for the 4^th year on October 4, 2014. Inspired by the famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Annapolis Fringe Festival is a low-cost, outrageously fun one-day event of uncensored live performances by boundary-pushing artists, featuring a wild mixture of music, dance, art, and theatre.

From 4 p.m. to midnight, historic West Street and up through the Arts & Entertainment district will come to life with comedy, satire, burlesque, music, paintings, and much more. Drawing attendees from DC, Baltimore, Northern Virginia and Philadelphia, the Fringe Festival gives artists an opportunity to perform and show their incredible talent to audiences that might not otherwise see their work.

This year, the Annapolis Fringe Festival is proud to be sponsored by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, but event organizers are also running a Kickstarter fundraising campaign to enlist the support of art and performance lovers in the region.

Kickstarter is an online crowdsourcing platform that helps artists and other creative types bring projects to life by setting financial goals and deadlines, then having people who support the project pledge money to help complete it. Kickstarter uses an “All or Nothing” approach in which projects only receive funding if there is enough money pledged to meet the goal. Once a goal is met, the project creator gets 100% of the proceeds to bring the vision to life. Nearly 44% of all Kickstarter campaigns have met their goals and 6.8 million people have pledged over $1 billion to help complete 67,000 projects since the company was launched in 2009.

The Annapolis Fringe Festival Kickstarter program is currently underway and supporters have until September 10, 2014 at 10:15am to help meet the $5,200 goal. Once met, this money will allow festival admission prices to remain at $5 per person, will help offset costs for Fringe Festival gear and merchandise, and pay for logistics and operations the day of the event to ensure a great experience for all involved..
