There are tons of Christmas-themed events going on in Annapolis this week: holiday shopping events, festive performances, and more.
Annapolis Entertainment
The Navy Mids celebrate the Christmas season with a much-anticipated concert, the 68th Annual Handel’s Messiah. The Men’s Glee Club and the Women’s Glee Club perform this holiday classic on December 6 and 7 at 8 p.m. The Main Chapel hosts this event.
On the 5th, Mahan Hall hosts a Fall Concert with USNA Pipes and Drums at 7:30 p.m. For more on these concerts, head to www.usna.edu.
Another festive performance comes from The Colonial Players this week: A Christmas Carol. The play features Christmas themes, music, and heartwarming lessons and love. The show continues through December 14. Head to http://thecolonialplayers.org to read more.
Over at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, an A Cappella Holiday Show takes place on the 6th at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices and more info is listed at www.marylandhall.org.
The time after Thanksgiving is devoted to time with family, decorating, and of course, Christmas shopping. What better way to get ready for the season than with Midnight Madness in downtown Annapolis? Shops stay open longer, raffles are available, and door prizes are even provided. December 4th is the first one, from 6 p.m. to midnight. There is no ticket needed and partaking is free.
Another shopping event, First Sundays Arts Festival–Holiday Edition–takes place this Sunday. Attend this free community-wide festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. West Street, Calvert Street, and Church Circle host this one. No tickets are needed.
The Compass Rose Theatre hosts Cats, the much-loved musical featuring great characters, cats, and plenty of fun. The show continues through December 21.
Annapolis History
Tuesday hosts a Paca Girlfriends Shopping Night at the Historic Annapolis Museum on 6 p.m. Drinks, fun, and private shopping are the centerpieces of this event. It’s free. For more on this event and the ones below, head to www.annapolis.org.
Friday, it’s a Hogshead Holiday at Hogshead from 6 to 9 p.m. Sample treats, drink alcoholic beverages, and watch interpreters in costumes. The price is $10 per adult and free for kids.
Annapolis Families
Families can enjoy a gift-making event with Chesapeake Children’s Museum on Sunday. The price is $10 and includes materials for making candles, bath salts, rag dolls, and more. Head to www.theccm.org to see more.
