Annapolis is justifiably known for its seafood, but c’mon—now and then you need a break from crabs, no matter how delicious. That’s when you head over to Chick & Ruth’s Delly on Main Street. Founded in 1965 by Chick and Ruth Levitt, who moved to town from Baltimore to take over an established sandwich shop, the delly has been a favorite hangout for residents, visitors, politicians, and anyone else craving an authentic delly experience.

Yes, you can get a crab cake here, but go delly! Corned beef on rye; juicy burgers; fluffy pancakes and waffles; cholesterol-thickening milkshakes…what more could you want from a delly?

The pace can be hectic, but the servers are friendly and patient (even with a 14-year-old who was so overwhelmed with the menu choices she had a hard time making a decision!), and the atmosphere is one of a lively party where—as they would say in “Cheers”—everyone knows your name.

Chick & Ruth’s has been a Main Street fixture for more than four decades. Don’t miss it!
