As we move closer to Christmas, Annapolis becomes more festive in its entertainment. This week features mostly holiday-themed fun, yet from a variety of venues. Enjoy this special time and these special events with your family.

Ballet Theatre of Maryland continues their holiday performance, The Nutcracker, this Saturday and Sunday, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. Nutcracker performances are held Saturday, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, at 1 and 4:30 p.m. Enjoy this classic Christmas musical with beloved characters of Clara and those in the Kingdom of Sweets. Maryland Hall also brings the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra to their venue for a show entitled “Holiday Pops,” on Friday, December 20. This music concert supplies guests with a true holiday show that’s nationally acclaimed. This moving performance costs $43 for adults and only $13 for students. Also on Friday, St. Anne’s Church downtown hosts “Messiah at St. Anne’s,” a music concert that features Handel’s long-standing sounds. Annapolis Chorale presents this event. The music event opens Friday and continues through the weekend. The Jolly Express Cruise hosted by Watermark Cruises continues throughout the week. This 45-minute cruise around Annapolis waters provides guests with great views, hot chocolate, and blankets. Cruise dates include December 20-22. Visit Watermark for more information and to book your cruise.

This Thursday marks the final round of Midnight Madness in downtown Annapolis. The final round is termed “eleventh hour” and dictates that businesses will be open until 11 p.m. This event is totally free and keeps money local. Visit Annapolis Business Association for additional info.

Rams Head on West Street feeds the buzz of the holiday season with lively music all week long. To kick off the week, Rams Head promotes a show by Michael Bolton at Maryland Hall. Bolton performs on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and will serenade the crowd with holiday music peppered with his own hits in between. The show costs $60. Wednesday at Rams Head, Albert Cummings performs his acoustics at 8 p.m. This show costs $22.50. Thursday, a holiday-themed burlesque show takes over, thanks to the Pontani Sisters, stars of the show. This performance begins at 8 p.m. and costs $22.50-$102.50. Friday brings Pieces of a Dream to the stage at 7 p.m. for $42.50. Saturday, Stanley Jordan performs slow yet rhythmic acoustics at 8:30 p.m. Jordan’s show costs $25.
