Moving from one big holiday to the next, Annapolis is ready for 2013 and prepped with activities for everyone. Whether you choose to ring in the new year at City Dock or celebrate with area events before or after January 1, Annapolis is a great place to be!

Bay Theatre’s comedic play, The Foursome, continues this week into the next. If you haven’t had the chance to catch this play that focuses on old high school friends reuniting on the golf course, seize the chance this week. Perhaps grab some of your old high school friends and take them to the play to join in on the comedy and fun. For more information on this play, head to www.baytheatre.org. On the musical side of things, Ram’s Head features live rock bands and a toast to New Year’s this week. First up, The Return, a Beatles tribute band, performs a New Year’s musical celebration on Monday, from 6:45 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event is full of appetizers, dancing, live music, and ringing in the new year in style. This celebration costs $114. On Saturday, Garland Jeffreys performs roots rock music at 8 p.m. The cost of this show is $23.50 On Sunday, funk/rock group Paul Reed Smith Band hits the stage for a 21 and over concert. The show starts at 7 p.m. and costs $20. Earlier in the day, the Paul Reed Smith Band performs a show for all ages at the same price. At 49 West Coffeehouse, jazz and local musicians are always favorites. On Tuesday, January 1, Unified Jazz Ensemble performs from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. This local band requires a $6 cover charge to see. Wednesday brings another installment of Starr’s Jazz Jam from 7 to 10 p.m. Join the jam session for $10. Thursday, Jeff Antoniuk returns with The Mars 4-tet at 8 p.m. for eclectic and innovative jazz. See this performance for $10. Friday, Tom Mitchell performs at 8 p.m. for $10. Saturday, Kings of Crownsville, a relatively new group to 49 West, plays with guitars, bass, drums, piano and more instruments at 8:30 p.m. This group costs $10 to see. Sunday, beloved patrons Jonathan Stone and the duo Gary & Leah perform. Annapolis Families

The Chesapeake Children’s Museum gets in on the New Year’s celebration at City Dock with children’s activities. There will be activities such as crafts and other kid-friendly fun at 3 p.m. Monday. There is no admission fee to pay, just fun to be had and ringing in the new year to be done. Call 410-990-1993 for information about the crafts and activities offered for kids.

While kids have fun with the activities provided by CCM, adults can ring in the new year and reflect on 2012 with friends and family at City Dock on Monday, December 31. The New Year’s celebration at City Dock is free and open to everyone.

Celebrate 2013 with an early morning walk through Jug Bay Wetlands on Saturday, January 5. Look for winter birds and learn how to identify native birds while exercising.
