World Artist Experience presents “Bridges to the World Film Festival” to the Annapolis area with shows that focus on certain areas of the globe. These informative, entertaining shows begin on Thursday, February 16 and go through March 15. The series kicks off with Brazil at 7 p.m. What’s even better than a trip to Brazil without the air port lines and jet lag? A trip to Brazil that’s free, open to the public, and takes place in a familiar town. The performance takes place in 308 music room of Maryland Hall.
Another musical event–Annapolis Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony No. 4–graces the scene this week. Held on the 17th and 18th, the event features fantastic musicians, beautiful sounds, and a stunning show. Both shows begin at 8 p.m. Ticket price ranges from $28-$48. Students pay $13. There is also a free pre-concert lecture at 6:45 p.m. where attendees can learn about the history of the symphony and what makes the music so astounding. 49 West Coffeehouse again lends a hand to those who are looking for entertainment. On Valentine’s Day, Unified Jazz Ensemble plays acoustic jazz from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. The cover charge is only $6. Wednesday, Starrs Jazz Jam is back and scheduled to play from 7-10 p.m. This event is a blend of many musical instruments, so be sure to attend! The cover charge is $10. Thursday, Rob Levit Group rocks on guitars from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. To see this band requires a $6 admission fee. The 17th, Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus play with John Cronin 8-11 p.m. The group will play acoustic folk/rock all night long. Bring $10 for this event and extra cash for yummy food and coffee drinks. Saturday, blues visits 49 West in the form of John Jensen. He’s there from 5-7 p.m. Saturday night, Tom Boynton & the Remnants team up with Stripped n Naked at 8 p.m. These musicians will bring rock/country to the stage. The cost to see these groups is $10. Sunday morning, 49 West features Jonathan Stone for Bossa Nova Brunch at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jenn, Larry & Pete play from 4-7 p.m. This group is perfect for those who want to sway and sing to great music. There is no cover charge. Sunday night, Erin Dickins featuring Stef Scaggiari please the crowd with their piano music and lovely vocals. They begin playing at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $20. Ram’s Head Tavern brings just as much music to you as anyone else this week. On Monday and Tuesday, Tab Benoit croons to deep lyrics and thoughtful melodies. Wednesday, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer team up with Victoria Vox & Katie Chambers and do a mixture of pop, folk, swing, and ukulele songs. The event begins at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $20. Gary Puckett & the Union Gap play Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. If you like The Beach Boys, you’ll like Puckkett. The price to see this group is $39.50. Saturday and Sunday, America plays and the cost is $95. Catch these pop/rockers on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m.
