If you’ve been around Annapolis long enough (and highly appreciate the local, fresh, delicious food here) you know there’s one big thing that occurs this week: Annapolis Restaurant Week. Of course, this event may be the shining star but it’s not the only event happening around town. Peruse the entertainment and other types of fun scheduled for this week below.

Annapolis Restaurant Week is here! This event allows for many restaurants (locally owned ones in particular) to stir up business and offer new, inventive variations on the set menu. The deal is a three-course meal for $32.95 at dinner, a two-course meal at lunch for $15.95, and a two-course breakfast for $12.95. Many downtown restaurants and ones spread throughout the city participate in this package deal. Annapolis Business Association presents this event. The Naval Academy Band performs with a Southern, jazzy flair this week. The Band’s Crabtowne Stompers are scheduled to bring upbeat and lively music to St. Anne’s Church on Church Circle this Thursday, February 27. This concert is unique and only comes around every so often–don’t miss it! As always, the concerts from this group are free and open to all. The USNA Music Department provides their own exciting performance this week too–a winter musical. This much-anticipated musical is performed by the Glee Club in Broadway style on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until March 2. Tickets are available on www.usna.edu/Music.
The fun-loving, heart-warming play by The Colonial Players continues this week. Superior Donuts follows one man’s quest to keep a donut shop running. The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra presents Austrian Melodies, a classical music performance that wows with the power of robust sound and intricate harmonies. The show kicks off at Maryland Hall on Friday and ends Saturday. The show on Friday is scheduled for 8 p.m.; Saturday’s show is the same time. Tickets start at $28 for the general public. At Watermark, Saturdays at this time of year are “Four Centuries Walking Tour” days. These tours take participants to historical sites around the city for a peek into Annapolis history. Rams Head welcomes new acts to the stage this week, starting with Robyn Hitchcock and Jen Van Meter at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. This music show costs $23.50. Wednesday, Shawn Colvin performs with Lily Hiatt at 8 p.m. for $55. Thursday brings Larry Keel Acoustic Power Trio playing–you guessed it–acoustic tunes. Saltwater Stringband also performs this night. The show begins at 8 p.m. and costs $18.50. Lobos visits Rams Head on Friday with a 40th anniversary tour at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Each show costs $65. Saturday, The Straits perform a tribute to Dire Straits at 6 p.m. for $49.50. Saturday at 9:30 p.m., Scott Ian of Anthrax performs on the “Speaking Worlds” tour. This show costs $25. Annapolis History
The Historic Annapolis Museum provides the chance to learn about Harriet Tubman’s bravery and smarts when it comes to the Underground Railroad on Thursday, February 27. Back by popular demand, this lecture series is delivered by historian Anthony Cohen. The first lecture on Thursday is at 4 p.m.; the second lecture is at 7:30 p.m. The price for each is $10. Annapolis Green
Another round of Green Drinks, arguably the most successful green networking party in Annapolis, is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26. This free event begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Bistro at South River Golf Club in Edgewater. Combining a cafe in downtown Annapolis with green knowledge can never be a bad thing. 49 West Coffeehouse hosts this Thursday’s Cafe Scientifique with a focus on the Coastal Anthropocene. Biogeochemist at the Smithsonian will deliver a talk about this fragile species and what we can do to better preserve our coastal systems. This event is free. Unity Gardens presents a lecture, wine and cheese reception, and book signing of Bring Nature Home this Sunday at The Key School off Hillsmere Drive. Annapolis Families
Where would many of us (adults and kids) be without Dr. Seuss? Perhaps less creative and accepting of ourselves. This is the position The Chesapeake Children’s Museum takes and thus, celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2 from 1-3 p.m. The birthday party includes Dr. Seuss books, games, and more.
