CONTINUE TO PREPARE FOR HURRICANE SANDY

Hurricane Sandy’s current track is expected to bring high winds to the region Monday morning through Tuesday evening. A High Wind Warning remains in effect from 8:00 a.m. Monday to 8:00 pm. Tuesday. The timing of the system has wind gusts of more than 45 mph beginning by 8:00 a.m. Monday and wind gusts of 60 to 65 mph continuing on Monday afternoon into Tuesday. The impact is a prolonged and significant 24-to-36 hour-long high wind event. This, coupled with heavy rain from Sandy, could cause significant tree damage. Residents, visitors, and businesses across the region should plan for widespread power outages. Residents in low-lying areas should have an evacuation plan if they decide to leave.

The Annapolis Office of Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management opened its Call Center today at noon. The Center is a phone line for non-emergency inquiries. The number is 410-260-2211.

The Annapolis Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) encourages you to be prepared. One of the best ways to be prepared is to create a Go Kit for Critical Papers. A Go Kit is a waterproof container that can be used to hold and carry important documents and helpful forms. Some of the documents and forms might include:

• A list of all employees, key customers, clients and vendors with contact information

• Insurance policies and agent contact information

• Copies of essential business policies, plans, agreements and contracts

• Backup of electronic data on external drives or offsite

• Inventories of equipment, computers, furniture and stock

• Photographs of business inside and out

• List of restoration vendors for after the storm
