This week in Annapolis is sizzling with fun–from Paint Annapolis to cruises on beautiful Annapolis waters. Below, see what fun you could have and then partake!
Annapolis Entertainment
Downtown Annapolis hosts a free, outdoor art event this entire week: Paint Annapolis. Not familiar? This artsy endeavor means you’ll see artists line the streets, cobblestone alleys, and pathways all week long painting in plein air competition. There is no schedule, but there is artist information at www.mdfedart.com. Spend a day downtown and we guarantee you’ll find an inspiring artist painting one of your favorite scenes of Annapolis.
The mysterious drama, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, continues this week at The Colonial Players’ theatre. The play follows a main character who stumbles upon a dead man’s cell phone and is troubled by the minor characters who continue to meddle in the dead man’s affairs. The woman becomes entangled in the dead man’s life and it begins to interfere with her own. Tickets are available online at http://thecolonialplayers.org. The play ends June 28.
For some, the announcement of summer marks the unpacking of beach chairs and umbrellas. But for others, summer marks the chance to catch up on interesting facts and ideas. The latter group will enjoy the St. John’s lectures on Wednesday nights this summer. This Wednesday, James M. Mattingly from Georgetown University visits McDowell Hall on campus to discuss “Hume’s Philosophy of Science.” The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free. Go to www.sjc.edu to learn more.
Another week of cruising with Watermark and Schooner Woodwind commences. Cruises around the Harbor, Spa Creek, and the area’s rivers are available. Long and short cruises are offered. To view the choices, visit www.watermarkcruises.com and www.schoonerwoodwind.com.
If you’re looking for a specialty cruise, look no further than Schooner Woodwind’s “Brews in the Breeze” cruise, happening June 29 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The cruise provides a collection of beers, Chesapeake-inspired dishes, and lovely views. The price is $74 per adult. To book this tasty event, head to www.schoonerwoodwind.com.
Annapolis Kids
Give the kids a critical thinking challenge early on in the summer with Chesapeake Children’s Museum’s chess camp, happening June 24-27. Kids can put their logic skills to the test with this fun and interactive camp. Half and full day options are available. Go to www.theccm.org to learn more about this camp and how to register.
