Bay Theatre’s double-header plays, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You and The Actor’s Nightmare, are still available for viewing this week. The first centers around a nun who receives an unexpected visit from former students. The second performance is comedic, and the action unfolds as viewers watch an actor portray an actor who forgot his clothes. The plays run one after the other. At Ballet Theatre of Maryland, there is a performance that celebrates patriotism, history, and fluid ballet moves. 49 West Coffeehouse features live shows every day of the week. First up, Monday brings several local singer/songwriters to the stage at 7:30 p.m. See this show for $6. Tuesday, Unified Jazz Ensemble performs at 8:30 p.m. for $6. Wednesday, Pam and Paula entertain with classical acoustics at 5 p.m. for free. Thursday, Steve Fidyk hosts “The Parlour Project,” an eclectic, easy-going show at 8 p.m. for $10. Friday, Susan Jones Trio comes to 49 West with violin tunes at 8 p.m. See this group for $10. Eastport features its own excitement that includes green beer, races, and plenty of Irish festivities. Participate in the Annual Green Beer Races on Saturday, March 16, with friends, Eastport natives, and race participants. In addition to the beer races, there are kids events, live music, and food. Annapolis Green
Though this event would require you to trek to Washington D.C., the DC Environmental Film Festival is worth it. The festival features over 190 films and at least 75 vendors with info, goods to purchase, and activities to see and participate in. The festival runs from March 12 through March 24. There are a few other green events this week; the first comes on Wednesday, March 13. The Annapolis Green Business Night allows you to meet legislators, discuss green practices, and more. The whole night is free but you must RSVP. The event takes place at the Lowe House Office Building on Bladen Street at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, March 15, there is a Maryland Green Ball at Governor Calvert House that functions as entertainment but also as a fundraiser for Sustainfest. The event costs $80-$175 and begins at 7 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy the Davidsonville Green Expo at 10 a.m. where you can participate in activities, learn about green practices, and purchase plants for the springtime. Also on Saturday at 10, hike with the Scenic Rivers Land Trust Hike for a mile or so. The hike takes place at the Contee Farm Easement Watershed Trail in Edgewater.
