This week, Annapolis actors, musicians, and restaurants offer you what you need to have a good time. If you’re looking to kick back and enjoy live music and great food in the midst of good company, head to Ram’s Head or 49 West Coffeehouse. Or, perhaps you’d like to watch something funny yet informative. If so, look no further than this week’s performance at Maryland Hall. Interested in not only having fun, but being entertained? If so, attend one of the many shows at Ram’s Head. This Monday, Allan Holdsworth Band plays a blend of jazz and pop music at 8 p.m. Still interested? Admission is only $25! If you’re more of a rocker at heart, head to Ram’s Head on Tuesday night. Enter the Haggis resembles strong rock bands and even puts a Scottish twist on their tunes to sound much like Flogging Molly and The Young Dubliners. Enjoy their performance for only $17.50 and maybe you’ll even discover what their band name means. A slightly less confusing but still elusive band name shows up on the schedule for Wednesday–The Fighting Jamesons. This group also entertains with Scottish rock. See them at 8 p.m. for $15. Thursday, March 15, Ram’s Head moves toward a different musical genre with Average White Band. This talented group will play funk and soul at 8 p.m. for $35. Tickets to see The Rovers on Friday are sold out, but don’t fear, Tommy Castro Band will wow you the next night. Castro is known for his talented guitar playing and enticing blues tunes. See him at 8 p.m. for $23.50. Sunday, Black Crowes offers their guitarist, Rich Robinson, to Ram’s Head for a duet with Amy Lavere. Together, the two will create rock music to keep you entertained way past your bedtime. They play at 1 p.m and charge $18. You can find the same great entertainment at 49 West Coffeehouse, too. This Tuesday, Unified Jazz Ensemble plays acoustic jazz at 8:30 p.m. It costs $6 to see this jazzy group. The next night, March 14, Pam and Paula do a masterful mix of the flute and violin. This classical duet is free of charge. Also on Wednesday, Frank and Amy join friends to offer you modern jazz. Cover charge is only $6. Thursday, Rob Levit Group returns at 8:30 but this time, with Dan Ryan, a talented guitarist. Enjoy this comforting jazz/acoustic music for only $6. When we finally get to Friday, Gonzalo Bergera will be there at 49 West to greet us. In fact, Bergara offers double the reward with two shows: one at 7 and one at 10. 49 West requests you call to reserve your seat for these jazz and Latin-flavored shows! Cover charge is $20. Saturday, John Jensen creates a bluesy mood from 5-7 p.m. There is no cover charge. Saturday night, Whitney James joins a few talented musicians to bring jazz music to the 49 West stage. The show is at 8 p.m. and carries a $20 charge. Sunday, Jenn, Larry & Pete bring relaxing, smooth music to you. There’s no cover charge. This group plays at 4 p.m. Looking for another free event? Looking for something international and interesting? Maryland Hall presents another of its “Bridges to the World Film Festival” this week with a visit to Turkey. The event is comprised of a comedic routine by a talented actor about his struggle against competition as an ice cream salesman. Like with all the other events of this series, this performance will be introduced and followed by a discussion. This event begins at 7 p.m. on March 15. Maryland Hall also has a few gallery events planned. “Dialogue: Words and Paint,” a compilation of writings and paintings, runs from now until April 15. This exhibit is on display in the Chaney Gallery on the second floor. Bonnie Roth Anderson, portrait painter, also has her work on display this week.
