Annapolis Entertainment

Navy football plays this Saturday in Annapolis.The opponent is Georgia Southern. The game begins at noon. USNA Band will entertain the crowd as well. Head to www.usna.edu to learn more.

The Naval Academy’s Music Department welcomes a performance, Czech Philharmoic, as part of its Distinguished Artists Series. This concert is scheduled for November 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall. This performance will boast of instrumental music and celebrate the fine arts. Tickets are available on www.usna.edu.

Compass Rose Theatre welcomes a new show this week: the ever-popular Cats, by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This musical features lively tunes, dancing, and plenty of feline excitement. In other musical news, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra join forces to bring a performance on Beethoven’s “Eroica.” Friday and Saturday host this show, at 8 p.m. both nights. Tickets are available on www.marylandhall.org.

Sunday, take the family for a car ride through Sandy Point’s Lights on the Bay, a lights show in celebration of the end-of-the-year holidays. The cost per vehicle is $14. Annapolis History

The magical worlds of food and historical fun combine this week in “A Taste of History: Colonial Foods.” The William Paca House hosts this event that encourages attendees to connect with colonial-style foods and recipes. There are two sessions on Saturday: one at 10 a.m. and one at 1 p.m. The price is $10 for a parent and child and $5 for each additional child. Go to www.annapolis.org to read more about it.

Annapolis Families

Kids and parents can enjoy the Animal Party at Chesapeake Children’s Museum, which features the opportunity to meet and pet live animals. Annapolis Green

This first event is really more of an announcement that requires very little yet yields a big pay-off. This Saturday, join in with the rest of the US in “America Recycles Day,” an initiative part of Keep America Beautiful. Be inspired to share the importance of recycling with others, make special plans to recycle smarter, and more in celebration of this nation-wide initiative.
