Saturday, November 16, is meant to be celebrated for several reasons. The most significant ones include the fact that it’s a Saturday and the fact that both Navy Football and the Naval Academy Band perform for the game. The Colonial Players continue their heartwarming play, Annie, this week. You remember Annie–the adorable, somewhat mischievous, and vivacious orphan who captured hearts decades ago. Musical things happen this week too. Rams Head is once again your destination for incredible music acts performed live, starting off with Allison Moorer on Monday. Moorer is praised for her alternative country style. See her at 8 p.m. for $21.50. Tuesday, Burton Cummings performs at 8 p.m. for $60. Founder of The Kinks, Dave Davies, visits Rams Head on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Davies’s show costs $39.50. Thursday, the great Elvis is commemorated via song, rhythm, and blues at 8 p.m. This tribute show costs $22.50. Comedian Paula Poundstone performs this Friday for a late show at 9:30 p.m. There are only a few seats left for this show that costs $38.50. Annapolis Green
Green topics are up for debate this week at various venues. Tuesday, Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council meets to discuss sustainability in regard to area soil. Wednesday, one of the founders of Annapolis Green, Elvia Thompson, will discuss saving money the green way, practical ways to incorporate green actions into your daily live, and more topics of the sort live on the radio. Annapolis Art
Art has a strong presence here in Annapolis, especially downtown on West Street, where several galleries sit. This Saturday, Annapolis Collection Gallery hosts a meet and greet with artist Greg Harlin, who is acclaimed for his watercolor art. Harlin will open his watercolor exhibit entitled “Saints and Sinners” that’s sure to be an inspiration. This event is open to all and is free. Annapolis History
‘Tis the season for scarves, holiday shopping, eating an obscene amount of cookies, and apparently, history via crafts. The Historic Annapolis Museum Store off Main Street hosts a “Wool Applique Needle Keeper” event that teaches participants about embroidery used long ago in old Annapolis.
