‘Tis the season to be thankful. This week, Annapolis entertainment is a bit quieter than others, allowing for time to relax at the dinner table and couch with good friends and family. Even still, the staples in Annapolis entertainment–Ram’s Head, 49 West, and green events–continue. Keep reading and have a safe (and full) Thanksgiving.

Annapolis Entertainment

Though rock n’ rock is typically just an expression for busy people, not a lifestyle, Ram’s Head offers the opportunity to rock at their affordable, local shows. This Monday, NRBQ brings the rock n’ roll to Ram’s Head at 8 p.m. for $29.50. There’s a break in performances midweek for Thanksgiving. On Friday, performances resume with Stephanie Mills’s R&B music at 8 p.m. The show costs $65. Mills also performs on Saturday. Sunday, Roomful of Blues performs their bluesy tunes at 8 p.m. The show price is $23.50. To obtain tickets for these shows, head to http://tickets.ramsheadonstage.com/.

Over at 49 West Coffeehouse, the jams are always jazzy and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. On Monday, 49 West gets a dose of local talent with twelve singer/songwriters at 7:30 p.m. The experimental show ends around 11 p.m. and costs $12 to see. Tuesday, Unified Jazz Ensemble kicks off the entertainment at 8:30 p.m. with acoustic jazz. The cover charge for Unified Jazz Ensemble’s show is $6. Wednesday, Starr’s Jazz Jam is back with Joe Byrd at 7 p.m. This jazz show costs $10. Thursday, 49 West is closed for in the morning for Thanksgiving. In the afternoon, the downtown hotspot reopens for a show by Stone-Noonan at 7 and 9 p.m. The cover charge is $15. Friday, Mac and John, cousins and bandmates, perform at 8 p.m. The show is grass roots fused with jazz. The cover charge is $10. Saturday, Caesar Ulsano and Lee Nathanson play eclectic jazz at four in the afternoon for free. On Sunday, the Swing Brothers perform at 4 p.m. for free. Also on Sunday, Jonathan Stone performs at 10 a.m. for free and Pillowbrook brings jazz/folk to the stage at 8:30 p.m. for $6. Annapolis Families

Many are off for Thanksgiving, and with restless families in town, the days can be long! How about taking everyone to Annapolis Maritime Museum on 732 Second Street for a nautical-themed exhibit: “Six Directions: Starboard Vistas.” The work of local artists is on display at the museum from this week to January 31. For more information, head to www.amaritime.org.

Though Thanksgiving week isn’t as active with entertainment as other weeks, you can still learn about green events right from your couch. On Wednesday, one of the founders of AnnapolisGreen.com and Green Drinks in Annapolis makes a guest appearance on WNAV 1430AM and 99.9FM to discuss preserving wild lands. Learn about current practices and sustainability around the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Tune in and get involved from 6 to 7 p.m. this Wednesday. Head to www.annapolisgreen.com to learn more.
