In life, there are activities that must occur: sleeping, working, communicating, being responsible, and a few others. However, life is extra sweet when it presents a fusion of necessary and enjoyable activities, like eating. In a few weeks, Annapolis restaurants, taverns, and cafes supply this blend of leisure and requirement for the much celebrated and anticipated “Annapolis Restaurant Week.” The event comes to food and drink lovers this year at the end of February into March: February 25 to March 3. Plenty of local places and established favorites participate in the weeklong celebration. The question is: will you celebrate too?

The cuisines represented in restaurant week are truly as diverse and wonderful as the city itself. Though the following list of participating restaurants is not comprehensive, it offers the majority: 49 West Coffeehouse, Acme Bar & Grill, Azure Annapolis, Buddy’s Crabs & Ribs, Cafe Normandie, Carpaccio Tuscan Kitchen, Carrol’s Creek Cafe, Crush, Federal House Bar & Grille, Galway Bay, Harry Browne’s, Middleton Tavern, Miss Shirley’s Cafe, Pusser’s, The Rockfish, Severn Inn, Tsunami, The Wild Orchid Cafe, and Sam’s on the Waterfront. The only chain restaurants on the list are Ruth’s Chris Steak House and The Melting Pot. Most establishments offer a three-course dinner for $32. 95 and a two-course lunch for $15.95. Miss Shirley’s Cafe is the only eatery that advertises a breakfast special: two courses for $12.95.

The majority of these eateries offer choices for the courses, like Azure, which features either a hummus platter, mixed greens and goat cheese salad, or crab soup for one course. After making this difficult decision, the entree course feature more choices of fish and chips, sauteed shrimp, or pot roast. Dessert at Azure can be either pumpkin brittle milkshake, ricotta cheesecake, or chocolate bundt cake. However, other restaurants, like Cantler’s Riverside Inn, have a fixed meal: Maryland crab soup, a crab platter, and key lime pie.

For any of the participating restaurants, Annapolis Restaurant Week’s website provides links of the restaurant week menus offered. In addition, this website will give a full list of restaurants that partake in the weeklong fun.

Before you head out to an eatery, check if any exclusions apply. Miss Shirley’s does not feature restaurant week deals on the weekend, and O’Brien’s Oyster Bar is not able to entertain lunch specials Monday through Thursday. The website provided above will educate you on these exclusions.

Concerning parking, all is as usual in Annapolis. Utilizing the numerous parking garages, the Circulator, e-Cruiser, and carpooling are all exceptional ideas. Of course, some restaurants have their own parking spaces–especially the ones outside of downtown–in which case, you can park at the restaurant. Otherwise, there may be some walking involved.

The purpose of this article is limited to strictly being informative. The enjoyable experience here is making reservations to restaurant (or several) that participate in restaurant week. The aforementioned deals, specials, and edible memories to partake in should motivate you to get out and explore the cuisine. Need further encouragement? There are no special passes needed to take advantage of these deals.
