Brunch is often an underrated, undervalued meal but for some Annapolis restaurants, brunch can be a star of the culinary show. To give you the best in brunch, we asked our FaceBook following about their favorite brunch spots. We briefly detail the delicious brunch options at WEST., Severn Inn, Red Red Winebar, Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge, Galway Bay, Harry Browne’s, and Grump’s Cafe in the hopes that you’ll rate brunch as top-notch if you haven’t already.
Located in Loews Hotel, WEST. Kitchen & Tavern has quickly become a desirable spot to pick up fresh breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Though brunch is only available on the weekends, the food is just as tasty and special as the traditional meals. Four components make up the brunch at WEST.: breakfast items, lunch items, raw bar specialties, and–our favorite–brunch cocktails. Breakfast includes egg dishes, like West Street Benedict; and grain dishes, like Vanilla Waffles. The lunch options at brunch include: Chesapeake Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Annapolis Crab Bisque, and pizzas and salads. Cocktails available include classics with a twist, like Two Step Mary (Bloody Mary variations), Brandy Milk Punch, and “Bottomless Mimosa.” Brunch items average at approximately $14. Wine and beer are also available at brunch. Go to www.loewshotels.com to see the full brunch menu. Brunch begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.
Severn Inn, housed right on the edge of the Severn River, offers a delicious brunch menu on Sundays. Severn Inn offers five options for brunch: omelets, made to order; a buffet, complete with sausage, quiche, fresh fish, beignets, and Southern crab bisque; a carving station with lamb and prime rib; a salad bar with past salad and the like; and a pastries and yogurt table. Brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brunch costs $32.95 for adults. View the full brunch menu at severinn.com or better yet, visit in person!
In the heart of Main Street, Red Red Wine Bar serves up New Orleans-style brunch dishes. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, guests can enjoy fresh and flavorful classics like beignets, Crab Benedict, Crawfish Etouffee, Cafe au lait, and Red Beans and Rice. Alcoholic drinks include concoctions such as Cajun Bloody Mary and Sparkler Flight. These tasty brunch options average around $10. Wine, beer, and other cocktails are available too. Visit Red Red Wine Bar on the Web at www.redredwinebar.com.
Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge serves their breakfast/brunch until 3 p.m., allowing those who roll out of bed reluctantly on weekends the chance to still participate. Most of the brunch items are vegetarian and quite nutritious, such as the house-made granola served with fresh fruit and yogurt. Classic breakfast sandwiches, french toast, egg dishes, Metro Vegetable Hash, and Srirachad Breakfast Tacos are also on the menu. Coffee drinks and brunch cocktails like Orchard Mimosa and Metropolitan Bloody Mary would pair beautifully with food items. Food items cost $8 on average. These menu items are also available during the week until 3 p.m. Go to www.metropolitanannapolis.com to read more about the food and drink.
Jazz music and hearty Irish food combine on Sunday mornings for brunch at Galway Bay. Galway Bay serves up dishes like Ballylarkin Eggs Benedict, Irish Country Breakfast, Galway Bay Omelet, and Corned Beef Hash. The heartiness of these brunch items coupled with Galway’s fresh ingredients and made-to-order philosophy translate to a top-notch brunch. Wash the Irish feast down with a Celtic Bloody Mary, Crazzmopolitan, or a number of other brunch beverages. Many brunch items cost less than $10. Brunch begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Go to galwaybaymd.com to see the full menu.
Harry Browne’s is no stranger to exquisite food in an elegant atmosphere–they’ve been around for nearly 35 years! The beloved Bloody Mary Bar and Sunday brunch buffet are perhaps to thank for the restaurant’s longevity. The brunch buffet includes: fresh fruit, an omelet bar, breads, meats, hot breakfast sides, smoked salmon, steamed shrimp, and event desserts. The buffet carries a $21.95 charge but includes a complimentary cocktail, white wine, or champagne. Soups, salads, entrees, and sandwiches are also available at brunch (priced separate from brunch buffet). Learn more about Harry Browne’s brunch at harrybrownes.com.
Miss Shirley’s Cafe may have more locations in Baltimore, but Annapolis is sure glad Miss Shirley’s provides tasty brunch options here. This award-winning cafe provides brunch options like Funky Monkey Bread, Stone-Ground Grits with Diced Bacon, Pimento Bacon Deviled Eggs, Sweet Potato Biscuits, and Potato Zucchini Pancakes. Prices are comparable at $11 on average. Miss Shirley’s receives brunch-goers all week long from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekends. Grump’s Cafe, off Hillsmere Drive, provides a rather large breakfast/brunch menu. We don’t just mean large menu–we mean large portion size too. Grump’s offers Steak & Eggs, Chicken Vickie Fried Chicken Waffles, Bayridge Benedict, and tons of breakfast sandwiches and other brunch-inspired items sure to fill you to the brim. The cafe prepares its own honey butter that is served with many dishes. Many of the dishes aren’t over $7. Grump’s opens at 7 a.m. everyday. Head to www.grumpscafe.com to peruse the whole menu.
We wish you a tasty, relaxing brunch full of flavor!
