With a few fall festivals from which to choose, more kid-friendly entertainment, and live performances, there is no room to be bored this week in Annapolis.

The Homestead Gardens located in Davidsonville opens this weekend with a fall festival, ideal for both children and adults. Admission is free, though attractions like hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin bowling, and the food and beer there all cost. Bill, the Naval Academy’s mascot, will also be in attendance! Another worthy fall festival must be mentioned here: the Maryland Avenue and State Circle Fall Festival, coming to you this Sunday, September 29. With free parking, Celtic and rock music, tons of vendors set up outside, and the ability to bring your pets and kids, this festival is sure to wow. The Naval Academy band will perform a musical wonder this Thursday at St. Anne’s Church in downtown Annapolis. The band begins to play at 6 p.m. This is a free concert. Yet another performance is scheduled just down the street from St. Anne’s Church, at Calvary United Methodist Church. This performance features drums and music by a local group. West Street rocks almost every night, in part, thanks to Rams Head performances. This week, The Band of Heathens brings a new rocker vibe to the stage on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The show costs $16.50. Wednesday, The Return plays a tribute to The Beatles at 8 p.m. for only $29.50. Medieval Baebes performs upbeat and slow music in a variety of languages, like French, Gaelic, Italian, and Swedish. This incredibly unique show costs $25. See the Baebes at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Friday, Scythian performs with Cutthroat Shamrock at 8 p.m. for $22.50. Saturday, Capitol Steps parodies and jokes at their $30 show at 8 p.m. Sunday, Rams Head provides a free performance by The Wild Feathers at noon. From traditional music to a racy play, The Colonial Players continue to entertain with their special, Communicating Doors. The performance follows a pro dominatrix through a series of doors that open up to a man’s past. Meanwhile, there is time traveling, murdering, and secrets. The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra is a well-known source of exquisite sounds and performances. This Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra will do two special performances (one each night) at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. What pairs better than beer and sailing? Perhaps beer, sailing, and the thrill of competition. This Tuesday, September 24, Schooner Woodwind teams up with Heavy Seas and Flying Dog breweries for the “Maryland Brewer’s Cup”–a sailboat race between the vessels that have been dubbed for Flying Dog brewery and Heavy Seas brewery, respectively. Annapolis Green
Annapolis initiatives and green events prove going green is easy and quite enjoyable. This Saturday, learn about one of this area’s most valuable resources–the beautiful Chesapeake Bay–while sailing aboard the Stanley Norman Skipjack.
