BWI Pathfinder Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to staff airport information desks, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Volunteers are required to commit to one weekly 4-hour shift. Currently, the Pathfinder program is looking to fill early morning (5 a.m. to 9 a.m.), evening (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and weekends. Uniforms, comprehensive training/mentor program and garage parking are provided. Volunteers assist with directions, airline and flight information, ground transportation, hotel information and other important services. Children’s Theatre of Annapolis
Children’s Theatre of Annapolis is a community-based, 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing the growth and development of children ages 5-18 through participation in all aspects of the theatrical experience, including performance, workshops, technical elements, community involvement, and apprenticeships. CTA seeks volunteers of all ages to be involved in its family-based theatrical productions. Be a part of one or several committees. Build and paint sets. Sew costumes. Collect props. Work backstage. Sell tickets. Usher audience members to their seats. There are all kinds of jobs for both adults and kids, whether you’re artistic, technical, or business-minded. Partners in Care
Partners in Care and Captain Avery Museum are cosponsoring a presentation–“Partners in Care: Building Community for Aging in Place” at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 at the Museum, 1418 East West Shady Side Rd., Shady Side, MD 20764. For over 20 years, Partners in Care has been empowering older adults to remain independent in their homes and active in their communities. Linda Dennis, the Anne Arundel County coordinator for Partners in Care, will discuss the organization’s culture of reciprocity and answer your questions. Quilts for Kids, Annapolis Chapter
The national organization’s mission is to keep fabric out of our landfills and bring happiness to children through the simple gift of a handmade quilt. Volunteers, age 12 and up, are needed for an ongoing project to serve children in hospitals and shelters in Annapolis and surrounding communities. Basic sewing skills are necessary but instruction will be provided for quilting. Volunteers must have a sewing machine and transportation. Quilting workshops are held monthly on the third Saturday of the month from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Bay Area Community Church upstairs in room 223. Everyone is welcome! Rebuilding Together Anne Arundel County
At this time Rebuilding Together has over 15 major home renovations slated for 2017. Each project will need a crew, a crew chief, and a sponsor. We have the ability to complete them all with your help. Spa Creek Conservancy
Volunteers are needed to clean oyster garden cages of sediment and algae from 3pm-5:30pm the 3rd Monday of every month––upcoming dates: Dec. 19, 2016, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, and Mar. 20, 2017. Winter Relief Program, mid-October through early April–Rotating Locations
About 70 Houses of Worship and a dozen partnering churches will provide sheltering sites together with Arundel House of Hope to support a shelter program from late October until early April. For one week at a time, participating churches host men and women in need of a hot meal and shelter for the night and breakfast the next morning. The Winter Relief Program needs volunteers to assist at the Intake Center at 514 N. Crain Hwy. in Glen Burnie and to be transportation escorts for showers for our guests. World Trade Center Institute (WTCI)
WTCI is looking for members of our community to host these visitors in their home. All you need to participate is: a spare bedroom, the desire to learn about a new culture, and share your culture with your visitor(s), and the willingness to serve as a valuable connection and inspiration to communities here and abroad. Your visitor will join you for breakfast, most dinners, and will spend Sundays with you experiencing a typical American day. WTCI arranges transportation to and from professional meetings and cultural activities six days a week, and WTCI staff is available to ensure that both you and your visitor have a great experience.
