The Aveda line is used in both salons and they have their own line of shops where you don’t need to partake of salon services in order to get the products you want. The associates at the most local store, located within the Westfield Annapolis Mall is staffed by trained Aveda associates who know the product line inside and out and are able to make recommendations and offer suggestions on different products within the Aveda line, according to store manager Cristin Valentino-Rambow.
So, for example, if you go into a salon and the stylist has you try one of Aveda’s products and you like it but upon further use it doesn’t quite meet every need you have, the stores are there and can make suggestions for something that will suit your every desire.
Plus, they don’t test on animals and that right there is worth something.
“We build up communities through fair trade. For instance right now the company is focusing on a village in Nepal. They are making the paper we wrap our gift boxes in, so you get this really fantastic paper wrapping that will positively affect the lives of 3,000 families in Nepal through the use of Aveda products,” Valentino-Rambow said.
Aveda won the “Cradle to Cradle” award, competed for globally, in 2010 according to Valentino-Rambow. She said Aveda was the first beauty company to win the award and only the second American company to win.
There are a lot of opportunities for the company to interact with different people and in different places because they are usually dealing with botanicals and natural products rather than chemicals in a wide variety of different laboratories.
Which is why the store experience might be right for you. Inside the store you can touch, feel and examine each product before you purchase. The staff is trained skin and nail specialists and they do offer services within the Westfield Annapolis Mall. At the Aveda store you can get a de-stressing hand treatment or a neck and shoulder massage.
Or you can go for the full salon treatment at the Varuna salon and spa where they use Aveda products exclusively.
“We do all types of hair care and are a full-service spa. We offer a holistic experience that focuses on mind, body and spirit,” Director of services Lucia Santoro said.
After finding the products that are right for you, or needing a tweak from what you already have it doesn’t take a trip back to the salon for a refill – the mall is conveniently located (that’s sort of the point) and the services are easily accessed.
So if you want to look your best and you’re particular about where your products come from (and you probably should because history has shown they can come from just about anywhere if given half a chance) then Aveda’s line might be the solution for you. With a couple of locations near Annapolis there are a few ways to get all your beauty needs met.
