Here’s your chance to see a Pit Bull in a bikini or a Pekingese power munch a pie. Come to the 5th annual Puppy Plunge, a fundraiser to benefit the SPCA of Anne Arundel County on Sunday, August 21. It runs from noon to 3 pm, at Camp Letts in Edgewater, MD.

This family friendly event includes a DJ, food trucks and vendors with merchandise and giveaways all day.

There are separate beaches for large and small dogs. After cooling off in the water, the dogs can strut their stuff in the dog bikini parade (1 pm). The dog pie eating contest features healthy pet treats any dog is sure to enjoy (1:30 pm for small dogs and 1:40 for large dogs). Don’t blink or you’ll miss it!

This annual event is expected to attract more than 1,400 pet lovers and hundreds of dogs.

“The Puppy Plunge is one of my favorite events,” said Kelly Brown, President of the SPCA’s Board of Directors. “Seeing how much fun the dogs have is really the highlight of the day. By being a part of this event, you will support the SPCA as we care for thousands of homeless animals each year.”

The price is right; admission is only $8.00 per person, with dogs and kids under 10 admitted for free.

Excellent Services for Homeless Animals

In 2015, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County completed a record-setting 2,156 adoptions. The shelter accomplished much more than finding so many loving homes for the homeless animals.Hundreds of dogs are expected at the SPCA of Anne Arundel County's 2016 Puppy Plunge, August 21, 2016, at Camp Letts in Edgewater.

Volunteers donated more than 20,000 hours to provide loving attention to the animals. And they promoted the shelter and its available animals. The SPCA’s affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic performed vital services for more than 2,400 dogs, cats and rabbits. By distributing 15,780 pounds and 4,167 cans of pet food, the Pet Food Bank assisted families in financial need to provide nutritious food to their beloved pets. With 530 animals in foster care, the SPCA is able to offer loving homes to pregnant mothers and very young puppies and kittens until they are ready for adoption.
