It’s just one of those things that you have to see while you’re in Annapolis for the holiday season! Get ready to watch the Eastport Yacht Club’s Parade of Lights! The 28th Annual Parade of Lights will hit the waters of Annapolis on Saturday, December 11th, 2010. More than 70 power boats and sailboats will be decked out in their best holiday garb.
The parade celebrated Christmas in style and is one of Annapolis’ best holiday traditions. Boat owners show off their Holiday light decorations by creating illuminated visual displays using holiday lights on their boats. Bring your whole family to enjoy this fun-filled evening.
The parade takes place in the Annapolis Harbor. The harbor will become a bright sea of the colorful reflections bouncing off of the bedazzled boats. For prime viewing of the boat parade, bring lawn chairs and claim a space at the Annapolis Harbor and Spa Creek. Any area above the Spa Creek Bridge will be the best for watching the parade pass you by.
Parking can be rather difficult for this event. It is suggested that you arrive early to find a parking spot nearby or get there late and plan to walk. Plan an evening of shopping or dinner downtown and just stick around until the parade. You can always park at the USNA Stadium for $5/all day. A bus will be making stops between the stadium and Main Street every 15 minutes.
Keep in mind that this is an outdoor event! Be sure to wear your warmest clothes and bring your holiday spirit. The Parade of Lights is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The parade usually lasts until around 8 p.m. As the parade ends, fireworks will be set off over the harbor. We hope to see you at the 28th Annual Eastport Yacht Club’s Parade of Lights on December 11th!
