Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides announces the February Art Exhibition at City Hall will showcase the creative paintings, prints, and family quilt of Tony J. Spencer.
Spencer’s Visual Art Exhibit TRYBE-ALL will include his great-great-grandfather James William Spencer’s quilt and 23-pieces of visual art including six acrylic paintings on canvas and 17 giclee prints on archival paper.
TRYBE-ALL is a play on words with each painting having an individual title to reflect a story line or meaning.
“The TRYBE-ALL exhibit echoes a triumphant declaration of success, enduring life’s storms, disappointments, or just an unfortunate experience,” Spencer said. “The encounter requires a warrior to engage in a self-determined resistance until a conflict is won. The TRYBE is fictional; however its meaning is understood and celebrated universally.”
An artist reception will take place at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 8, in City Hall, located at 161 Duke of Gloucester Street. The exhibit and reception are open to the public.
The artwork is in City Hall through the end of February and anyone can come in and enjoy the exhibit Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
