Local sailing celebrity Gary Jobson has two short films in this year’s festival.

The Magic and Mystery of Sable Island, About 200 miles southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, lies Sable Island, home to seals, wild horses, and a few Canadian researchers. With every storm the dunes and shorelines of Sable Island’s 21-mile crescent shift, uncovering and covering again 400 shipwrecks and archeological evidence of over 200 years of habitation. Set against one of the most remote and beautiful landscapes in North America, the fragile relationship between man and nature is presented in stark relief. 42 minutes in length.Ted Turner’s Greatest Race: 1979 Fastnet. Ted Turner was already an America’s Cup champion when he entered the 1979 Fastnet race. What unfolded was a life-or-death struggle. 14 minutes in length.Both films will be screened on Sunday, April 3, 3:15 pm at Annapolis Elementary School

Gary Jobson is a former All-American collegiate sailor. He won the America’s Cup in 1977 as tactician for Ted Turner. As the Sailing Analyst for ESPN, lecturer, and Editor-at-Large for Sailing World and Cruising World magazines, Jobson is the pre-eminent ambassador for sailing in the U.S.

The Loyalist, directed by Minji Kang (19min) South Korea. A North Korean general checks in on his daughter at a Swiss boarding school to test her loyalty to her motherland.
