Annapolis Market HouseThe Market House in Annapolis may be more than half empty now, but hopes are still alive that this centerpiece of Annapolitan life could once again be bringing residents and visitors to the historic City Dock structure.

Gone To Market LLC, developers of the property, recently met with the Annapolis City Council to unveil new plans for the marketplace. The firm, owned by Lehr Jackson, will undertake the renovation and reconstruction of the Market House. Lehr Jackson has revitalized similar markets, including Belvedere Square in Baltimore.

The proposal calls for turning the the 5,000-square-foot structure into a market that includes both indoor and outdoor attractions, deafood, deli, and produce vendors, and a weekend farmers market.

Jackson hopes to close the Market House by the end of year, and begin construction after the first of the year, with plans for a grand reopening in April.
