Remember color by number as a kid? Just as we colored in shapes to enliven an image in our youth, we can explore Annapolis restaurants to bring the culture and taste of a particular neighborhood to life. We devote this first article in the series on Annapolis restaurants to one of our favorite neighborhoods: Eastport. Be reminded of the delicious options at locally-owned eateries there.
Boatyard Bar and Grill sits at 4th Street and has represented Chesapeake-inspired food ever since its inception in 2001. This claim about Chesapeake food is no joke–Boatyard Bar & Grill has won “Best Crab Cakes” and “Best Sailors and Boaters Restaurant.” The raw bar, fish tacos, crab soups, and lobster dishes are also noteworthy. The restaurant is family-friendly and nestled at Severn Ave. & Fourth Street, with some views of the water. Prices are comparable at a $10 average. See more on www.boatyardbarandgrill.com.
Carrol’s Creek Cafe is one of the first restaurants noticed when traveling over the bridge to Eastport. Regarded as upscale yet comfortable dining, Carrol’s Creek offers a truly Annapolitan eating experience. Seafood dishes, like Sea Scallops and BBQ Shrimp, have been long-standing house specialties. Tuna Tartare, Prince Edward Island Mussels, and Herb Encrusted Rockfish Fillet are some other enticing options. Main course entrees for dinner range from $21 to $34. Carrol’s Creek has exceptional views of the Annapolis Marina at 410 Severn Avenue. Visit www.carrolscreek.com to learn more about this Eastport staple.
Once a grocery store then a lounge for weary fishermen, Davis’ Pub has a rich history. We’re glad it’s Davis’ Pub now, though, as we’re partial to the Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich and Crab Cake Platter. Davis’, at 400 Chester Avenue, features all kinds of simple yet scrumptious bar and pub favorites for about $10. Peruse the full menu at www.davispub.com.
Lewnes’ Steakhouse, at 401 Fourth Street, is widely celebrated for their prime beef and hearty food. Light dishes like Tomatoes and Onions Salad and Broiled Atlantic Salmon Fillet, are available at this family-owned and operated restaurant too. Prices are subject to the market, but are, on average, about $25 for dinner entrees. Learn about Lewnes’ on the new site: lewnessteakhouse.com.
O’Leary’s Seafood Restaurant is amongst one of the top-rated seafood restaurants in the area. The reason for this is clear: dishes Virginia Oysters and a slew of lobster, local fish, and crab entrees prepared in flavorful, surprising ways. Prices are comparable and average $15-$20. Yet another high-rated seafood restaurant, Sam’s on the Waterfront, is located in Eastport. Sam’s sits at 2020 Chesapeake Harbour Dr. and offers brunch, lunch, and dinner to seafood-lovin’ guests. Sammy’s Italian Pizza Kitchen , located at 1007A Bay Ridge Avenue, is Eastport’s destination for authentic pizza and tasty Italian dishes. Eastport may be a quaint and marina-filled neighborhood, but the wine craze has also made its mark on the area.
