For thirteen years, from May to October, downtown Annapolis has come alive with masterful pieces of artwork by those who populate this area. This year’s First Sunday Arts series marks the fourteenth year and it’s sure to emulate the past years of great art and local flavor. With this post, we remind you of the details–the when, the where, and the what–to hope for a great turnout for the first First Sunday Arts.
When is it?
First Sunday Arts, as aforementioned, happens the first Sundays of May through October. The dates are: May 4, June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7, and October 5. Each day of the festival lasts from noon to 5 p.m.
Where is it?
Downtown Annapolis hosts this event from spring to fall. More specifically, Calvert and West Streets host this event, meaning the streets during festival dates are closed. The fact that it’s downtown means even those perusing the shops and eating downtown will likely wander by. It’s a festival that truly allows for all to come and enjoy a slice of Annapolis art and crafts. In fact, it only makes sense to enjoy Sunday brunch downtown and then meander to the festival. We can’t think of a better way to spend a warm Sunday mid-morning.
What is it?
You know it’s a festival full of local people, but exactly what local people, you ask? The festivals pack over one hundred vendors like local children’s book authors, local jewelers, local inventors, local photographers, and local crafters.
What else?
The festival is free, as always. Parking at the State Parking Garage on the corner of Calvert and Bladen is suggested.
Pets on leases and kids are welcome.
Aside from the shopping and perusing you can do at First Sunday Arts, live music performances and even street dancers offer the chance to enjoy variety too.
We’ll see you there this May through October!
