Now that the summer season is officially underway, it’s important to take a look at some of the different social and cultural things going on around Annapolis. From the goings on at the colleges to the happenings under the Severn, our Facebook friends have been active in sharing the most interesting things they’ve found in and around the region. As we do each week, they’ve been collected here for you.

Service Bound

This week the Naval Academy posted photos of its Class of 2016 Ceremony on Flickr. Some great shots, even if you aren’t a relative of the grads.

One in, One out

St. John’s already is preparing for its next semester. Academic rigor meets old town lifestyles.

Clean(er) Water at the Severn River

Check out this wonderful video by Jay Fleming showing the water clarity and some of the creatures in the Severn River.

Help provided

This is a fun story. Certainly the region is attractive for people who have careers in nonprofit industries, but there’s also just the attraction of the area itself. Two great tastes and all…

Storm Endurance

There was less of a monster storm than we were promised, but with any luck this brings us to the end of what seemed like a particularly wet spring. Here’s to the sun and (hopefully) a lower-humidity season.

If you missed brunch this week…

Don’t worry. There’s another Sunday just around the corner.

Visit Chincoteague

If you haven’t solidified your beach plans yet, it always is worth considering Chincoteague, the Virginian part of Assateague Island.

The kids are alright

It’s always great to see people pitching in to help others, especially when it isn’t the week before a major holiday. Cultivating an attitude of helpfulness is one of the most important non-academic aspects of high school. It’s great to see that it is treasured here.
