Annapolis, MD (February 26,2019) – The first weekend in March will be busy for residents and visitors to the City of Annapolis. The Women’s Unity March on Saturday, March 2 (1 to 3 p.m.) and the Mardi Gras Celebration at Market Space on Sunday, March 3 (12 to 5 p.m.) are expected to bring crowds to Historic downtown. On Monday, March 4, the Maryland March for Life will impact downtown traffic during the evening rush hour.

WOMEN’S UNITY MARCH 

At 1 p.m. on Saturday, the Women’s Unity March will begin at the intersection of Calvert and Clay Streets. The march will proceed around Church Circle and then down Main Street to the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial at City Dock. From there, marchers will continue to Susan Campbell Park (past City Dock and Ego Alley) where marchers will congregate to hear from speakers. Rolling road closures along the route will be managed by Annapolis Police who will provide traffic control.               

MARDI GRAS AT MARKET SPACE 

From 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, thousands are expected to attend the Market Space Mardi Gras celebration. This event, sponsored by the Downtown Annapolis Partnership, will feature live music, Cajun food and drink and activities for children and adults.

MARYLAND MARCH FOR LIFE

Starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at St. Mary’s Parish, marchers will take Duke of Gloucester Street to Green Street, to Main Street, around Church Circle to College Avenue then down Bladen Street to end at the Treasury Building for speeches. Annapolis Police will assist with the rolling road closure and provide traffic control.

Park Place – 5 Park Place (Free Circulator shuttles will run from this location)

Calvert Street Garage – 19 St. Johns Street                                    

Prepay for garages at by visiting annapolisparking.com. The Annapolis Circulator will run between Park Place and downtown. The Circulator is free to ride. Please note that there will be NO shuttle service offered to the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
