Annapolis residents cheered the opening of Annapolis Mall thirty years ago. Now known as Westfield Annapolis Mall, Annapolitans and Anne Arundel Countians alike still flock to the ever-expanding shopping center that brought such stores as Macy’s and JCPenney to the area. Before the mall opened, shoppers often had to travel to the Baltimore or DC suburbs to get their retail therapy fix. As a result, whereas weekend traffic once numbered just 40,000 shoppers, today approximately 150,000 folks pass through the mall on any given weekend to enjoy the 300 shops, kiosks, and eateries to be found there.
